Lovely old building
Aug 2021
Used to house a National Trust shop - that's now gone and the building is occupied by the village general store. Groceries downstairs with some crafts/gifts, pet food and health food-type products upstairs. Surprisingly wide range for the size of the place.

Interesting old building
Aug 2019
This building serves many masters. The first part houses a National Trust Shop. Well stocked although not very large. Everything from mugs to cards to chutneys, honey, T Towels etc etc... the other end houses the Farmers market on a Saturday. Well worth a visit just for that. Homemade pies, Pasties, cakes, chutneys and local honey to name just a few. Tables in the corner serving coffee and a slice of cake and some beautiful Photographs of local scenes around the moors and animals who live there.
Nice friendly atmosphere, worth a visit. Outside is the village green and the church just opposite, very pretty for sitting and taking it all in.

Lovely shop in a lovely setting, but a cold welcome
Aug 2019 • Couples
We always visit the National trust shop when in Widdecombe-in-the-moor. The range of products is wonderful and we made several purchases, but there was little welcome from the assistant. I really think that it doesn't take much to be friendly and welcoming. I will keep coming back to the shop but would appreciate acknowledgement please.

Nice Visitors Centre
May 2019
The Church House is a visitor information centre with shop and art gallery so not a National Trust property as you might expect.
It is situated in Widdecombe on the Moor which is a lovely little village with car parks, cafes and souvenir shops. The church, dedicated to St Pancras is very large and known as the cathedral of the moor.

Always worth a visit!

No visit to Widecombe in the Moor is complete without popping into the NT shop in Church House. My guests always comment on the wide range of unusual gifts on display and, more importantly, the delightful service provided by Sophia. This echoes the review left on the site on Dec 20. Sophia is a true gem in the NT crown!

Try visiting without singing the song...
Feb 2019 • Couples
Set in the centre of the village of Widecombe in the Moor this place offers a decent National Trust shop, with various crafts for sale upstairs. The second part of the house was booked whilst we were there. If you can visit without continually singing the fame "Widecombe Fair" song, you're a better person than me.

A Mid Winter's day in Widecombe!
Dec 2018 • Couples
A Mid Winter's day in Widecombe was brightened up as we walked into the Church House National Trust shop!! What a lovely greeting we got from their very special assistant Sophia..what a helpful and friendly young lady she is! We purchased some of their own 'Stem Ginger Preserve' which I have to say is very indulgent and delicious!
Looking forward to our next visit!

Widecombe on the moor, National Trust shop
Aug 2018 • Couples
This is the nicest National Trust shop i have been in, the quality of the goods are a delight to the eye, my favourite pieces are the unique tweed caps , made from the wool of the Dartmoor sheep, such fine workmanship, by a local craft person, the staff are very friendly and warming to the customer, a credit to the National Trust, the jams and chutneys are also a great take home delight ...., from the wilds of the moor, I will definitely come back , being in the retail trade, i know quality when i see it!

Can be busy during the day with cars and coaches. The New Inn provides wholesom food and a selection of beers. The garden at the rear is ideal on a good day . Dogs must be kept on a lead. However we did stop over for luch on a day when the weather was non to clement and were asked to move inside which was much appreciated.
