Return visit after many years since last time..
Jul 2018 • Couples
Went back after many years to see what has happened in the barometer world, as a long term owner.
Phoned up and spoke to owner, who welcomed us.
We purchased a present for son whilst there.
Glad we popped in before owner retires.

Even if you don't believe that barometers are of interest, don't be put off, because you will be surprised how wrong you will be.
There is a fascinating array of barometers with a surprising history attached to each and everyone.Look at barometers throughout history and learn their importance in weather forecasting, many, many years before the modern radio and television forecasts.
Well worth a visit!!

No dogs but plenty barometers
Aug 2016 • Couples
On holiday so decided to visit with husband and very small dog- got there had rang ahead to ensure open as appointment is recommended.

No dogs allowed so my husband went in alone - disappointed by no dogs even when we offered to carry in arms.

Toilet facilities excellent

Small but very interesting place, my husband says he enjoyed visit, and made a purchase.

If you are into barometers then worth a visit however the old barometers for sale overpriced

This is a very sweet little place tucked away.
Some gorgeous pieces to look at in the small museum and some good prices to also purchase
Good for a ten minute stop off

A bit specialist!

If you are into barometers, thermometers and scientific stuff, this is definitely the place for you.

Kids would find it totally boring though. One for the nerds.

Been visiting Devon for years and wanted to go to Barometer World ever since I first picked up a leaflet. Managed to go today, I'm a weather junky so it was well worth the wait. You can just visit the shop where there are barometers, barographs, thermometers etc to suit all - refurbished antiques and new also to suit every wallet! You can pay £2.50 to go into the museum which we really enjoyed. Very informative. The lady was helpful and I formative.

An interesting little place to stop, but the people there gave the impression that they didn't give a damn whether you visited or not.

Romantic Road Trip
Feb 2015 • Couples
For our 59th wedding anniversary I decided to take my wife to Barometer World as a romantic getaway. We wasn't sure what to expect as neither of us know too much about clocks other than that they tell the time.

When we arrived on my brand new Harley Davidson I saw her face light up with excitement. In the moment of sheer joy I thought I'd try popping a wheelie, which made her fall off the back of the bike. I could hardly contain my laughter.

Once inside Barometer World I was quite surprised by how packed it was. We could hardly move whilst we were in there, which wasn't ideal as my wife has just had surgery on her hip and she was slowing me down.

We were taken on a tour where we had learned that the barometers can control the weather yet they are unable to tell the time, which made it impossible for me to keep track of how long the tour went on for. My attention was soon taken by a large moth I had spotted on the wall. It was enormous. I named it David Hasselmoth.

Before we knew it the tour was over and we had to get back on the road. I could tell that my wife enjoyed the trip because she hasn't stopped talking about it since.

I am only giving Barometer World four stars as I was not allowed to ride my Harley Davidson inside the store.

Interesting

A great collection but it seems to be a fading interest. Barometer tubes are no longer made there and there is an air of 'owner retirement'.
