Best cycle route I have done!

All tarmac from Meeth to Lydford apart from a tiny bit. Mainly flat, amazing scenery, will ride it again hopefully.

We started at Okehampton and walked as far as Meldon Viaduct. For most of the way it is fairly uninspiring. Very few views to the north due to the trees along the way. Although you do get a rather good view of Okehampton Castle. To the south you have a railway line, possibly disused and then the very busy, and... More

For the Dutch, cycling in itself is not an ultimate experience. It's what we do on a daily basis. So the experience of cycling The Granite Way has to be: excellent views on the countryside. And that's exactly where this Cyleroad falls short. Due to the hedgerows, there's no countryside visible for long sections. When there is, some parts are... More

A lovely little ride with friends across this trail. Beautiful landscape with some amazing views. Would have liked to have seen more places to stop and see things along the way.

You can travel this route from Okehampton or Lydford [ or Tavistock with a short road stretch] From Okehampton the views are unrivalled as you cross the moor at Meldon Viaduct , Prewley Moor and Sourton Cross . Don't miss stopping to admire the view and take refreshment at the railway buffet car at Meldon [ check if open before... More

We cycled along the Granite way as part of our cycling holiday. We particularly enjoyed our visit because of the fantastic views and the diverse wildlife - it's a great place to watch Buzzards.

Fantastic off road leisurely ride, ideal for the family, along an old disused railway. Mainly flat going. The views from Meldon Viaduct are breath taking.

We parked at the meldon reservoir then took the road back towards the village onto the path. We turned right and cycled over the viaduct and then on towards okehampton, before we got to the end we decided to turn around and head towards the other way. We passed over the Lake Viaduct and decided to go all the way... More

Gentle ride suitable for all abilities and with some stunning views. If you want to cross the viaduct but not cycle the whole thing then start at the Oakhampton end.

A great way to cycle through the countryside on a level track. It was interesting to go through the disused quarry with its railway line and then into rolling countryside. The trail ends suddenly when you pop through a gate into what I now know is Lydford village. At the bottom of the village is the NT Lydford Gorge. We... More
