Nice walk with a pushchair

We were looking for somewhere nice to walk where we could also push a baby buggy easily, and the Granite Way fitted the bill. We walked from Okehampton to Meldon Viaduct. It was an easy, pleasant walk next to the Dartmoor Railway. At an easy pace, it takes about an hour each way. There are occasional nice views and our... More

I have cycled the Granite way a few times and enjoy the Meldon Quarry to Sourton Down section the best. The old track is great to ride on, much like the Tarka trial we have in North Devon.

My husband and I cycled from Okehampton station to Lydford (about 9 miles) on Bank Holiday Monday. It took about an hour and a half there and the same back. It is easy to cycle, being mainly flat apart from the odd small gradient. It is all tarmac apart from a short narrow section through some woods. There are quite... More

Much of the cyclepath to Meldon from Okehampton follows the route of the railway and much of the view is blocked by the woods - delightful though they are, however once you reach the old Meldon Viaduct the views are spectacular and the riding is easy due to the easy railway gradients. The Dartmoor Railway Supporters Association run the 'Meldon... More

We started at Okehampton and walked as far as Meldon Viaduct. For most of the way it is fairly uninspiring. Very few views to the north due to the trees along the way. Although you do get a rather good view of Okehampton Castle. To the south you have a railway line, possibly disused and then the very busy, and... More

For the Dutch, cycling in itself is not an ultimate experience. It's what we do on a daily basis. So the experience of cycling The Granite Way has to be: excellent views on the countryside. And that's exactly where this Cyleroad falls short. Due to the hedgerows, there's no countryside visible for long sections. When there is, some parts are... More

A lovely little ride with friends across this trail. Beautiful landscape with some amazing views. Would have liked to have seen more places to stop and see things along the way.

All tarmac from Meeth to Lydford apart from a tiny bit. Mainly flat, amazing scenery, will ride it again hopefully.
