About
The Woolly Beader . It was born from our desire to be our own bosses and live in a small village in Devon. What began as a plan to open the largest bead shop in the West Country has grown into a community centred craft shop selling a wide range of jewellery making materials and quality yarn. We are known for our superb customer service and knowledge in all things beady and yarny!!! We hope that customers feel really at home in our lovely spacious shop. We run our workshops to suit our customers so one to one tuition is the norm at no extra charge.

disappointing beading department
Mar 2019
This shop sells beads/ jewellery materials on the upper floor and wool/knitting products downstairs. I was interested in the beads and jewellery. Having looked at the website I travelled 40 miles to visit this shop. Upon entering, the shop looked very interesting, it seemed to be well stocked with a variety of attractive yarns, knitting patterns, accessories, etc. I went upstairs to where the beads were displayed and was disappointed at the selection, most were not very interesting. I was looking for some jewellery findings in order to repair an old necklace but could not find anything suitable. I went downstairs to ask advice and the owner told me she had not owned the shop for long and had no knowledge of the beading side and not much interest.

Intarsia santa sacks workshop and yarn purchases
Nov 2017 • Solo
On holiday in area and again had an excellent time in a workshop, this time with Bekki. Then purchased yarn for other projects. Gary was a wealth of knowledge but this is not great when you are trying not to add to your yarn stash! I failed to leave without buying some ... bought some gorgeous yarn and a kit. In fact I also went back the next day for more yarn 😶

This is a lovely shop. Really nice yarns and the owners are incredibly helpful, it's great to have something like this in Okehampton. Donna is really encouraging and I need to book a class to learn to finish my knitting projects off better.
I'm not a header but discovered the beads the other day, wonderful! And so much fun. Also help again to buy the right items to mend a much loved necklace which broke about 10 years ago! Great place for inspiration and encouragement

Knitters Delight
Oct 2016
This is a great shop to visit if you are in Okehampton and like knitting. They have some unusual yarns and even yarn from Dartmoor sheep. The staff are very helpful, and if you are only looking for a small project they have lots of bags with just the thing to get your fingers itching to knit.

I have just had an amazing 3 hour glass bead making workshop this week that I enjoyed so much I returned today for more intuition. Friendly, helpful and encouraging. I'm already planning my next visit. The shop has a great selection of wools, beads, craft kits, jewellery etc. I happily travel miles to my favourite craft and bead shops and this is by far the best I have seen, with a number of interests all under one roof and amazing workshops. Great little coffee shop opposite to send your hubby whilst you play! :-)

Fun Craft place!

Good place to take little girls on a rainy day. Staff are helpful and have classes and demonstrations, only criticism was that my wife , who is a serious crafter, thought their pricing was a bit steep.

Lovely shop with knowledgeable staff and a massive range of beads and jewelry making items. Could spend hours - and a small fortune - looking at all the extensive range in stock there. They also run courses showing you how to make your own jewelry and also other courses such as knitting and crochet too.

Great Customer Service - knowledgeable

I visited this shop recently and mentioned that I had a problem with the cord in your dotty bracelet kit that I had purchased and was prepared to purchase some more to try again. You very kindly gave me some purple leather cord and this afternoon I have successfully completed the bracelet without any problems as well as a bookmark kit! It's so unusual to find a shop with such excellent knowledge of their products and the range of items available is great.

Great stop for creative crafting supplies
Rockin Beads is a great bead shop... But they also have wool and patterns and block printing and silver clay supplies. You want to just hang out and plan your project there and you have space to do so.. Tables are available as well as a sofa. You can learn lamp working or other skills too. I stop by often and you can park by Simmons park for free for an hour and walk down...
