Took the bus from Totnes and really the Valiant Soldier is the place to visit there. The pub is like going back in time - and wonderful to read the posters, booklets ( Advice for how American GI's can get on with local Tommy's) Well...More

Discovered this quite accidentally and it really ought to be better advertised. It's a fascinating place to visit, situated at the bottom of Buckfastleigh's main street. The receptionists are friendly and helpful. There is much nostalgia inside this pub - if you are of a...More

This is a wonderful place to visit, I enjoyed every minute. Pub as it was when it closed and beautiful living quarters above all set out with items found at the property. A fascinating hour spent here, could easily have made it two. Lovely displays...More

Found out about this museum through a flyer I picked up at a hotel. Was curious to see it, turned out what we saw was an older incarnation of my local (without the nicotine stains) and my granny’s house (without the mothballs) with some local...More

An absolute rare piece of history. Not a museum where artefacts have been bought in but the real deal, cigarette ends still in the ashtrays, spirit bottles and glasses all from when the pub closed all those years ago. Absolutely fantastic and something everyone should see.

This is a wonderful local attraction. The smell took me right back to my nans house back in the 70s. Also a good tourist information center with lots of information about the town and its history.

Having been born and bred in Buckfastleigh I'd walked past this pub hundreds of times but never set foot in it until yesterday. The landlady closed the pub in 1965 and that is how it stayed, untouched , for 50 years. It is a wonderful and...More

It is a pub frozen in time, with a fascinating story to it. It is like going back to the "good old days" You can take you time and sit down and imagine you were there. There is also some local history and war memories.

I visited the Valiant Soldier today, what a lovely place. The pub has frozen in time. Lots of fascinating items, stories of the owners and locals, and fabulous local history.

We had not heard of this place, but were just wandering in the village and came across it, so thought we would have a little look inside, what a pleasant surprise. This is mainly a pub that is still as it was when it shut...More

Try the website but also call ahead to make sure. The volunteers do a great job but sometimes things occur beyond their control so worth giving them a ring. enjoy
