Over from Torquay on one of our Trip to Brixham occasionals. Surprisingly we discovered a pub we’ve never been to. And it was a pleasant surprise as well. The Queens is just out of the town centre and up a hill called Station Hill. Yep, there used to be a train station in Brixham. Check out the novelty moving train clock behind the bar.
Really friendly staff and first class real ales. Landlord knows his onions on this score that’s for sure.
First impressions are always important and on entering the pub it was clean and also smelt clean! There wasn’t the sickly dog smell for a start and the reason for that is that it is a dog free pub. How refreshing is that? We have regularly visited pubs around the harbour in Brixham but found them to have more dogs than customers! Whereas the Queens had many customers and no dogs!
There was music on the day we went but we were there late afternoon early evening so had to leave before it started to get back to Torquay but we shall return.
As I say this was a surprise find for us but take my word for it this is a good pub and I should know, I been going in them for 30 years!
If you like real ale, friendly staff (and friendly locals by the way) a clean environment then give this place a try.

What a pub!
Jul 2021
Came here both nights when staying in Brixham July 2021. Saw the fantastic reviews and had to give it a try. The pub is only a short walk from the harbour, via some steep steps. The locals all spoke to us, as did the staff. The bloke the second night was very helpful in pointing us towards which beers to try etc. The beer was excellent and clearly very well kept. The beers are constantly changing, meaning always something new to try. Very fair prices. Don't waste your time going to a pub on the harbour, head here. We were down in Falmouth at the end of the week, renowned for it's many good pubs. But we agreed that The Queens was the best pub of the week (and there were many visited!)

Great pub , Great locals , great beer

Fantastic pub and well worth the climb up the steps from the town Centre .

Was in Brixham 4 days and we went to the Queens Arms 3 out the 4 nights.

Called on our first night and we were made to feel very welcome by the landlord Chris who took time out to stand and chat to us .

Second time we went up was for the England v Ukraine football match and we were once again welcomed like locals and given great seats for the match.

Beer selection is incredible and Chris is very knowledgeable about the brewing industry and fascinating to chat to .

Lisa was lovely on the Friday and Saturday Night behind the bar ensuring COVID procedures were adhered too as she provided the table service .

We called in on our last night and the lovely Emma served us .

A great welcoming pub that deserves all the credit it gets.

A must visit place for locals and tourists alike.

Best wishes

Kev and Helen

Best pub in Brixham!
May 2021 • Couples
We love The Queens Arms!! A proper English pub a little stroll up the hill from Brixham village. The landlord Chris was so friendly and welcomed us like we were locals. Amazing array of ale and cider, awesome English tapas options (from Walkers to Wotsits). Thank you!

Fabulous on every level given the restricted space available under current pandemic rules.
Chris, Simon and the friendly locals make this a delight to visit. Not enough of these authentic British traditionals left.
Full marks for everything, and the beer selection - well you might as well be in beer heaven !

Fabulous Pub

We popped in on a one night stay in Brixham, Chris the landlord was fabulous and put us at ease with the COVID guidance in place. He was extremely knowledgeable and with table service provided recommendations based on our likes and we both tried some amazing ale and cider. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Brixham

A "local" pub
Oct 2020 • Couples
A great friendly pub welcoming to us non locals. Varied local beers on cask and keg, and a fantastic range of local ciders and gins. Good live music on Wednesday nights. Dog friendly if you sit in the courtyard.

Traditional local pub with amazing beers
Oct 2020 • Couples
Here most nights on my stay in Brixham. A proper traditional pub with the most amazing real beers. Mostly locals who made us tourists very welcome. Their CoVid processes worked well and table service was a bonus. Certainly worth a visit but if you are staying near the harbour the walk home may be more of a roll as the beers are all pretty string

Superb 'proper' pub
Sep 2020
If you like a proper pub with superbly kept ales, ciders and craft beer - this place is a MUST. And a brilliant landlord, Chris, who has done so much to keep the pub going during Covid. There are no frills here, just outstanding quality beers, a really warm welcome, in a wonderful traditional pub. In fact, one of the best pubs I've been in for well kept cask ale. The choice is constantly changing and during our three visits (during our three night stay) there were six different ales on offer. All superbly kept. Chris also organises a beer festival to raise money for charity. Brilliant pub, brilliant landlord!
Good luck to you in these difficult times.
