Although gallery in the middle of changing paintings around this week we had a refreshing experience seeing how diverse an artist Walter Elliott is. Good to see also they were holding an art competition for local artists too. Thank you

Visited after reading a leaflet on the Gallery. Unfortunately I found it very tacky with predominantly amateur art work for sale. There is parking outside and a small cafe.

The gallery is nothing like the previous review, there is plenty of exciting and interesting works of Art in the Gallery, the worlds (reputed) largest pastel trip-tic hangs in the gallery and done my Walter Elliott the owner of the Gallery. The work is constantly changing and is anything but drab and boring. A little out of the way in an old Sunday School and Chapel, it is worth the visit and the work is all done by local west country artists. The entry is by donation to the running of the gallery (again optional not compulsory) and is staffed by volunteers, many who are artists and often painting when you visit. There is a small coffee/tea facility and the staff are more than happy to assist.

If anyone turns up here expecting an art gallery - FORGET IT.
The gallery no longer exists.
Don't waste your time.

Go to Broomhill Art Hotel and Sculpture Gardens on the B3230 Muddiford, near Barnstaple EX31 4EX or to The Burton, Kingsley Road in Bideford EX39 2QQ or The Plough, 9 - 11 Fore Street in Great Torrington, EX38 8HQ.
They all have websites.
At least you'll experience various exhibitions, have something to eat and experience a body of work produced by an array of artists.
If you persist in The Elliott you'll be disappointed AND waste your time.

The gallery is set in an old Sunday school chapel, it has high ceilings and a lovely airy feel. There is loads to look at all done by local people. It is well worth a visit. Ideal if you are looking for a special gift for someone. Refreshments are available, and the staff (I understand they are the artists) are friendly and knowledgeable.

The gallery was closed due to photography taking place. No warning of closure. Very disappointed, we walked up the hill with our 85 year old mum who is an artist.

This Gallery is housed in an charming old chapel and has recently reopened (three days a week)
Two Gallery areas, with vaulted ceilings allow for leisurely perusing of the fantastic art of local painter Walter Elliott. It's an eclectic catalogue, with my favourites a definite mix of western and eastern mysticism.

Mark is welcoming, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about his fathers art.
With a coffee lounge and some parking opposite, this hidden gem is worth a visit if you love art.
