A little gem of a museum. When I visited there was a fantastic display of Japanese related history and artefacts, not what I was expecting, but very good nevertheless . There was a Guernsey connection which was another surprise. Neolithic history, folklore and goblins and...More

We went for the first time this year and found it fascinating. I particularly liked the part about the language and folklore of the island.. The gallery is lovely too I loved looking at paintings of well known places on the island.

We visited the museum on the first day of our holiday, attracted by the advertised Japan exhibition. Although the entry fee seemed a little steep, we weren’t put off and spent a good couple of hours there. The exhibition was well-planned and offered a fascinating...More

I visited here for the first time recently. It is based in the Candie Gardens and parking can be tricky in the street outside. I parked at St Peter Port Harbour car park and simply walked up the hill. The museum is quite small with...More

Really enjoyed the museum. Good historical overview of Guernsey. Also a nice temporary exhibition of local young artists. The collection Japanese artifacts and the history behind that was fascinating

It was very hot the day we visited, but we enjoyed very much the Japan exhibition, and the other things that were displayed. The cafe , where we had a snack, was fine.

We specifically visited for the archaeological collection which was very well presented. There were also interesting exhibits about connections with Japan and the geology and folklore of the island. The cafe is very good with views down to the harbour and the place is surrounded...More

This gets 3 marks out of three because what it does, it does really well - I really liked the paintings, I thought the explanation of the early guernsey was great, and especially the lost language. However there is little indication of what happened to...More

Thank you for your comments, I'm so sorry you felt there was something lacking. We are part of four museum sites owned by the States of Guernsey and each of us offers something different. Our German Naval Signals Bunker tells part of the occupation story,...More
