Guernsey is an island in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy. It is famous for it's Guernsey Cows. People are friendly. Walking through town and around the outer limits of Guernsey was most enjoyable. Would love to return to this most beautiful island.

I had a great walk around the town with Andy. He is very knowledgeable about the history, buildings and key families of St Peter Port and communicated well in an entertaining way.

We have visited this lovely island a number of times since honeymooning here in 1973, yet found this walking tour with the very knowledgeable and engaging Mireille something we should have done a long time ago. Her illustrated talk (with a heavy folder of historic photographs) covered her beloved island’s history from its very beginnings to the present day. Well worth doing for anyone interested in learning more about this holiday destination.

Obviously, the quality of a walking tour depends on the specific guide. Unfortunately, our guide was difficult to hear, did not know how to use the headphone device, and was not as informative or entertaining as we have come to expect from walking tours elsewhere. We had to ask her about what we were seeing on several occasions, rather than being told local stories that would make the island come alive. We spent the bulk of the tour in Candie Garden, not a top priority for us, and other guests pointed out unusual trees and foliage. We could have purchased an excellent guide book for the price of our two tour fees.

Sue gave an overview of Guernsey's early history and then we proceeded to walk around the town looking at various early features and really got a feel of what the town had been like. I have been to St Peter Port many times but never seen these parts before. It was an interesting hour and a half. Bear in mind there are quite a few steps but you can take them slowly.
