    Bloomers bakery
Bloomers bakery..need I say more?! Fantastic value, queues out of the door but worth the wait. £2 baguette sandwiches! Where can you get that?! Bloomers that's where! Tasty, good value and a St Helier gem hidden in the market. We stumbled upon Bloomers on our first day and went back numerous times. Lovely friendly staff too.

Great produce and knowledgeable friendly suppliers
Enjoyable visit 2 weeks ago and did quite a bit of shopping for food (cheese, fruit & veg) and some lovely Jersey cow tea towels and cards. Everybody was really friendly. Great selection of cheeses at Relish Delicatessen. Greatly appreciated the knowledgeable, friendly advice and the cheeses and other products we purchased plus local knowledge of places to eat.

    St Helier walking tour
St. Helier We caught the number 12a bus to St. Helier from St. Brelade which was an interesting 30 minute trip cost £2.70 each one way. It was good to walk the many squares, see the shops, a visit to Howard Davis Park and a coffee break at Tiffin Bistro by Du Gruchy store which is well worth a visit as well. A walk around the harbour finished our 4 hours and then the bus back to St. Brelade Bay. Make sure you have a map. Regards Gary Saunders

... a spot of lunch from the bakery in the middle of St. Helier
We had yet another lovely holiday in Jersey, staying in St. Helier. As always a trip to the market was near on daily for the bakery, their pasties and pastries are delicious, stick to the Vienna bakery, (the other one has a problem with keeping the food hot, a potensial disaster if you choose a pie and definately nasty if you choose a sausage roll). Several really lovely stalls in the middle of the market with fresh produce, flowers and more. More stalls and small shops, amongst others a quirky antique shop with a huge amount of beautiful items. A craft shop, a cake decorations shop, a chocolate - sweet shop, a good few cafes, a couple of interesting gift shops, a lovely wine store and more. The overall atmosphere is busy, but you can find a spot to sit down on the benches along side the market or at the cafes. The architecture has been upkept with painted wrought iron gates and bars around the whole market and just the lay out gives a good vibe. Worth a visit for sure.

No visit to St Helier is complete without popping into this perfectly preserved covered market. With its ornate wrought ironwork and central fountain, the market is a Victorian gem. It opened in 1882.

It's not just for show. Fruit and veg prices here are much cheaper than in the town centre supermarkets. The market is also home to several very tempting cafes, a stylish tapas restaurant - Casa Paco - and the excellent Vienna Bakery.

There are entrances on Halkett Place, Beresford Street, Hilgrove Street and the picturesque Market Street.

The market is closed all day on Sunday plus Thursday afternoons.

Clearly was a Victorian paradise ... But no single interesting stall, nothing unusual ... Very tired fountain in the middle with rotting bananas for sale.

All in all - rather a sad reflection on an historical venue.
