About
Strongpoint Corbière currently consists of five German WWII Fortifications found at La Corbière Point. Volunteer members attend to the WWII fortifications & although CIOS members, this is not an officially recognised page. The aim is to preserve and restore these structures to how they would have been operationally during the last year of WWII. The site's 5 bunkers are open to the public at select times, being the two 10.5CM coastal defence gun casemates, the M19 Fortress Mortar bunker, the heavy machine gun sechsscharternturm bunker & the Kanalinsel Nr. 514 Personnel Shelter . The aim is to create a 'working atmosphere', where some of the equipment is usable & you can even aim the original 10.5cm fortress gun or hold & operate deactivated machine guns! Much attention has been paid to the interior fixtures & fittings & the bunkers contain extensive displays showing how the bunkers and weapons operated together with stories about the actual soldiers who served there.

Inside the bunker museum
Jul 2021 • Couples
We were lucky enough to visit on a day that the mortar bunker was opened by volunteers to see inside. Well worth a visit. Inside was an insight into how the fortifications were lived in, with almost fully restored facilities. Even my wife enjoyed it😀

Nice bunkers
May 2021 • Couples
Nice well preserved bunker complex at Corbiere Point overlooking the lighthouse. Several large concrete bunkers overlooking the bay which would have definitely deterred any aggression towards the island fortress from this direction. Bunkers closed when we visited.

One place - several attractions
Oct 2019
This south-western cape of Island offers several attractions in one place.
There are several massive German bunkers creating interesting defence complex – a real treat to any fan of militaria. Unfortunately, we have been there too late in the year, so the "bunker museum" was closed and we could explore everything from outside only, however the whole place is interesting enough even without it.
You can take a 10 minute of walk to the lighthouse (described as a separate attraction) but even without these human-created supplements, the place itself is wonderful.
The combination of grey rocks and rough, blue sea is absolutely magnificent, especially if you decide to climb one of the coastal rocks - but be aware that it is the option for the fit climbers only: proper shoes and gloves are necessary (the rocks have rough surface and there are also some sharp edges). However, if you manage to climb, you will be rewarded with unforgettable views.

Whilst viewing the lighthouse we had a good look at the German WW 2 bunkers. Some of them have been partly demolished but are now being restored

Great but closed

This is a great sight to see but unfortunately only open on Sunday it seems. Had an ex serving soldier as few static signs of arcs of fire etc would be great to see on the closed days. It's plain to see the beaches would have been a bloodbath if we were to have landed there.
There seems more here than some of the areas around Normandy.

Shame it isn't open a bit more often.

I really wanted to visit this place to explore the bunkers, having a fascination with the second world war. However, you cannot access the bunkers apart from on open days. Sadly, finding out when those open days are isn't so easy.

I did try messaging the society that looks after the bunkers but, even two weeks' later, I have yet to receive a response. For all I know, it could have opened the day after I visited. So, from that aspect it is very poor and if I were rating it solely based on customer service, it would be a big fat zero.

The fortifications themselves are a wonderful piece of history and quite a treat to walk around. Imagining the sights and sounds of nearly 75 years ago whilst visiting these relics is humbling.

I wonder how future generations will view such treasures?

Thank you for your review and we are sorry you missed any opening of this site. The site is run by volunteers and has its own Facebook Page which is https://www.facebook.com/groups/StrongpointCorbiereJersey/. As such we are sorry the central page did not respond top your query and we were unaware you were visiting. Guided tours do take place in addition to open days and these are run by Jersey Military Tours and Jersey War Tours. We realise this may be too late for your visit, hopefully next time.

Incredible place. Every day of the year maybe preserve one surprise for you. If you handle one cam, here is the place where every sunset could give you "the picture" of your life, every afternoon/sunset has a random rainbow with magician units collars for you, winter or summer, Autumn or Spring. Sun, stars, winds, tides are creating for you, in only half hour all could be different to your eyes. Magic pass by here practically everyday. And close there's where sit down and get a nice cool beer letting pass through the flashes calls from the light house guiding ferris backing home to Jersey. Touched.

These low profile relics are interesting. There is much more interpretation and information than you might expect. Parts have been rebuilt in recent years. Do look out for then when visiting Corbiere

This was bunker 3 of my planned 4 this weekend. Another warm welcome and lots more to read and discover. I didn’t encounter any ghosts! I’d explored this area on a walk earlier in the week so it was great to go inside. Thanks to the volunteer who opened up today 👍
