The grounds are lovely and arrived just as mass was finishing so we could enter the church. Well worth a visit & a large car park is located on the other side of street behind shops, 5 minutes walk.

I find the atmosphere at Knock shrine to be peaceful and reflective. To sped a few hours there allows time to reflect and take stock of ones life, The recent improvements to the Basilica have enhanced the experience.

Frankly, I was disappointed as this isn't what I expected at all. I was expecting a beautiful old church with perhaps a marker and a little shrine. Something serene and tasteful. Instead I arrived to find a commercial Disneyland of religion. It had the atmosphere...More

When we came into view of the cathedral, I was surprised and somewhat disappointed in the appearance of the cathedral. The building seemed out of touch with the surrounding landscape and was not at all attractive as is the case with nearly all other churches...More

"The Apparition" chapel is a place where believer or unbeliever can experience peace and calm. The chapel is modern and tastefully depicts what the some people saw when Our Lady of Knock appeared.

We arrived in time to attend mass with a group of people in the old church - lots of other nationalities present. After this we visited the Basilica which is an impressive building with large capacity for mass service. We also saw the grave of...More

Beautiful , peaceful place. The only thing is I didn't like the old/ loud country music playing in a lot of the shop areas. Also way too many shops selling the same things. Please shops - stop playing that awful "backward" music, it isn't even...More

We called into the see the shrine of Our Lady of Knock, on our way home from a trip to Achill Island, and it was a wonderful peaceful experience. We arrived at the site and went to the small apparition chapel first. Then we took...More

I have no idea. It's a very wide open mostly flat site. I imagine only guide dogs would be allowed inside the chapels.

Hello there, I imagine that your two senior travelers will have travel passes. This makes everything so much easier. I would be inclined to take a train from Houston Station to Claremorris. A taxi from there would bring you... More

There's a hotel in Knock itself (not child friendly). Otherwise Claremorris (12 minutes). The airport is about 20km from Knock.
