Great way to spend a morning
Great zoo, easy to walk around and most animals are easy to see. There were benches to relax and watch the animals. The misters were refreshing on a hot day. I highly recommend feeding the giraffes for $3. It was great seeing the spotless Giraffe calf. The Penguins were fun too.

Great private zoo in Tennessee - Rare Giraffe
We were visiting East Tennessee and had heard about the recent birth of Kipekee the baby giraffe without a pattern. We drove up for a visit and found a very nice family run zoo. It was great to be able to see Kipekee, and found the zoo to be very nice and well ran. There is a large variety of animals and nice exhibits. You can also feed the giraffes carrots for $3 which is an awesome experience that you probably can’t do many places. Would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

    Delightful afternoon!
We spent a delightful afternoon at the zoo. It was clean, the people were friendly and there were benches literally everywhere! I could have sat and watched the kangaroos for hours. The giraffes were a delight to see. We really enjoyed knowing that the little brown giraffe was so unique. My granddaughters said the reptiles were great. I passed on those and just enjoyed sitting in the shade.

I believe this was our third or fourth visit to this zoo. We live almost 2 hours away or we’d go more often. We haven’t been since Covid hit. Of course, like everyone else, the main reason we came was to see Kipekee, the spotless giraffe! We were pleasantly surprised at the new additional enclosures and animals they had added since we were there last. We did get to see Kipekee, the other baby and all the other giraffes along with the many other animals! All in all, we spent over an hour and a half jut walking around seeing the animals. While we didn’t participate in the animal feedings, we have in the past. For the giraffes, it just the older ones and not the babies. We had planned on riding the train/tram but it wasn’t operating due to staff shortage. The zoo is so neat and clean. Staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this zoo. Myself, 48 and my 76 year old dad sure do love it! We’ll be back next season! In addition to the zoo, they also had a small vendor fair. It was nice to walk around and visit the vendors! A beautiful fall afternoon all the way around!

    Fabulous
I was very impressed we enjoyed this so much. They have alot of animals although I'd like to see some trees in animals closer and trees for monkeys so they could have a more natural habitat. The place was clean and family oriented also loved the train. Wroth the trip plan on returning

We visited the zoo on Good Friday 2022 and were pleasantly surprised with how big it is / how much there is to see. The staff in the ticket booth, the lady out front and the lady at the snack counter were very enjoyable. The staff in the gift shop weren’t bad but not great, however the lady who conducts the giraffe encounter was very rude. Very rude to guests and very rude. She seemed as if she hated her job and was very rushed. Other than this experience we loved the zoo. The animals seem happy and well taken care of.

I've been to zoos all over the USA and Europe. This is one of the best.

Super clean newer facilities and infrastructure. Healthy animals in roomy enclosures. Knowledgable friendly staff. Family owned. Beautiful surroundings. This zoo is living proof that you don't need government funding to create a beautiful animal exhibit.

We traveled an hour to come on Memorial Day and got there at approximately 3:40 knowing good and well we would only have about an hour to walk around. Upon arrival the sign on the door said "closed". We thought maybe someone had turned the sign by accident so I went and the door was open. Two people were behind the counter and a family shopping so I said Oh! are you open. The girl by the computer was very rude and said no we are closed. I said oh! the thing my daughter read said 5:00pm. And again with a rude tone she said, Well, we stop entry at 3:30. No compromise, no I am sorry, I would like to thank that sweet lady for a wasted trip and a sorry attitude. May you experience this yourself somewhere so you might learn from your mistakes. P.S. I think its wrong of this establishment to charge a different price for active and retired military. My husband fought 21 years for you to have this freedom and you are putting a hirer emphasis on someone who may have only been in 3 months. Military make up 1% of the USA. Are you that cheap that you can't be thankful of them all?

Dear Patty, First and foremost I would like to apologize if one any of my staff members came across as rude in any way. We do our last entry at 3:30 and have tried to post that info in every location possible. The average guests will spend 1.5 to 2 hours in the zoo (longer if you participate in feedings, keeper chats, etc). The zoo itself does happen to close at 5:00pm. What is supposed to happen when guests enter after that 3:30 mark is for our staff to apologize and explain why we close ticket sales at 3:30. Here is a link to our hours and rates page https://brightszoo.com/index.php/plan-your-visit/hours-rates that shows our hours. Sites like Google tend to pull from our web site but fail to put in the 3:30 mark. We are working on ways to get that on those sites as well. As for military, Thank your husband from us for his service. I myself am a veteran and proudly served this great country of ours. Please feel free to call our gift shop and ask for me if you would like to discuss this any further. Our gift shop number is 423-257-1927. If I am not in the gift shop our staff will take a message and make sure that I receive it. Thank you, David Bright - Zoo Director

Tons of monkeys!!! We have been to several zoo's and never seen so many monkeys. Kids loved it. They have all kinds of animals mainly from Africa. The giraffes walk right up to fence where you stand. Place is bigger than it looks from road, was pleasantly surprised. Took us about 3 hours to go through the zoo taking our time.

What a treasure!! I've lived in the area all my life and didn't know this hidden treasure existed. The animals were happy and well taken care of. The zoo was unbelievably clean. The employees were so friendly. A great place to spend the afternoon with friends or family - wonderful for all ages. A must see when visiting east Tennessee.

The staff there takes really good care of the animals. Clean and well kept areas. Easy to follow directions on their map. Benches to sit on to enjoy the animals. Will go back every chance I get.
