I recently visited Craanford Water Mill, near Gorey, Wexford. It was a fascinating experience. The mill is a beautiful, quaint, early 17th-century working corn-grinding water mill. It was originally lovingly restored by Michael Lyons and more recently by his son John. Husband and wife team, Detta and John, the current owners of the mill enjoy welcoming visitors. John conducts the tours while Detta runs the tea rooms. I would highly recommend a visit. So you won't be disappointed check out their website for days and times of opening.

This is an amazing place to visit. Lovingly restored by Michael, a former mill worker, and since 2017 by his son Michael, this is a fascinating glimpse into the past for anyone who is even slightly interested in history, engineering or science. And John's tour is perfectly complemented by his wife's baking in the café upstairs, served with excellent cafetiere coffee. Very good value!

Such a lovely experience. The couple who own the place couldn't have been kinder. We arrived quite close to closing time but this wasn't a problem. We still had an interesting tour, learned a lot and sat outside in the sun with pots of tea, cake and scones ,jam and cream, just wonderful. Also a week later ,they royally entertained my 92 yr old parents, one of whom uses a wheelchair . A lovely place to visit and drink in the heritage and atmosphere.

Had a fabulous morning here this morning. Wonderful home baking and extremely interesting tour of the old mill. Thank you John and Detta. Would highly recommend a visit before they close for the winter next weekend.

Spent a lovely morning in Craanford Mills in Gorey last week. The owner John gave us a lovely tour of the mill. He is very knowledgeable as he has a personal connection to the mill, the mill has been in his family for generations. There is a beautiful tea room where we had lovely homemade scones. It’s a great way to spend a day. Highly recommend.

We had picked the Craanford Mills as one of the places to visit, I enquired in the local shop how to find it. The very nice shop assistant said it is just down the old, but it is closed as the elderly couple are in hospital. We drove down to have a look from the outside, it looked quaint and lovely. Hope the owners will be well soon.

An absolutely amazing place. John the tour guide gave both a highly informative and very interesting talk on the history of this gem. In addition to this, Detta runs the beautiful olde worlde Tea Room where delicious homemade apple tart can be had.

Informal set up. However the tour was interesting and informative. We really enjoyed ourselves. Followed by cup of tea in the cafe.
