This was the best way to travel for our family group of 8. Dermot puts you and your needs/wants first. He helps set itineraries based on what you want to do. Schedules are flexible so if you want more time at one place you can do that. If you want to pull over for photos, you can (if traffic allows of course). He makes the trip fun and full of history that we wouldn’t have gotten if we toured on our own. The stress of not driving was great! I highly recommend Turas Eireann and we will be back to tour the North with him.

After spending a few days in Dublin and Galway, we booked a day trip with Turas Eireann to see more of the Irish countryside. What a day we spent with Dermot! He was extremely personable, funny, and knowledgeable on the history of Ireland. We saw and learned so much during our time together. Loved seeing the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, the Clonmacnoise monastic site and Sean’s Pub in Athlone. Our kids, aged 17 and 14, agreed that it was the best day of our trip. We’ve only been back 48 hours and already we are starting to think about our next Irish adventure, which will definitely include Turas Eireann! Highly recommend!

Dermot is an excellent guide and an enthusiastic teacher. He took us on a three day personalized trip from Galway to Dublin that included the portal rock in Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty castle, Sean’s Bar, Saint Kieran’s Monastic settlement, New Grange, Trim castle, The Hill of Tara and multiple other sites in the Boyne Valley. He was patient, flexible, funny and kind. Cannot recommend him enough

I cannot say enough about Dermot he is fantastic and an amazing driver! His humor, laughter and Ireland knowledge is incredible! He showed us all around Ireland sharing his knowledge and even made stops to places we would never have seen. I highly recommend him for a stress free and fun filled vacation!

We did a 7 day trip across Ireland. Our driver Dermot was extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient with us. He brought us to all the hot spots as well as some beautiful areas that only the locals would know. The mini bus was very comfortable and versatile allowing us to visit some areas with narrow roads that brought us to amazing views. Dermot shared his knowledge of Irish history helping us understand the evolution of this beautiful country. He also had great recommendations for a good feed and interesting shops. Dermot was an excellent driver, tour guide, and host. We had a family group of 9, for an 11 day trip all around Ireland. Prior to the trip, he worked with us to plan a basic itinerary, and when he picked us up in Shannon, added some suggestions over the course of the trip. However, it was our customized plan and he worked to make that happen for us. He truly became a part of our family and our overall positive experience- from Donegal to Dublin to Galway. He has a love for Irish history and shared information and stories along the way. He was extremely flexible as we worked out our plans each day, and when our group broke out, he would take one group somewhere (golf) and then take the others on an adventure. We never had to worry about navigating on the left side of the road, or on the many very narrow countryside roads we traveled. I would highly recommend him to anyone planning a vacation to Ireland, and will use his service again if I return to Ireland in the future. 10 of 10!

My family of 6 ( including a 21 year old, 16 year old and grandparents) took a three day tour with Dermot as part of a multigenerational trip to Ireland. We weren’t expecting to see too much in 3 days but Dermot worked with us to plan and execute an amazing itinerary - we feel like we saw some absolutely beautiful sites - some famous with lots of tourists and others we were the only ones there. His knowledge of Irish history and his story telling is remarkable- he is kind hearted, very flexible and we never felt rushed. In addition to touring some fabulous places he also shared restaurant and hotel recommendations that were spot on. And we had huge variety in the types of activities we did every day. He has a huge , comfortable and safe van and he drives exceptionally safely - I was glad not to have to drive on the other side of the road (ha!) and what was great is that we got to drink Guinness and even take a whiskey tour at 10 am without worrying about anything. We truly feel like we have great perspective on Ireland and its culture thanks to our new friend Dermot - we give him 10 out of 5 stars and would use him again in a heartbeat.

Let me start with this: If you are planning a trip to Ireland and want to have an exceptional tour experience, free of buses jammed with people, on a schedule that meets your personal needs, and with no need to navigate narrow roads (while driving on the left-hand side), hire Dermot O'Connor with Turas Eireann!!! I am a few months overdue in writing this review, as we took our trip back in May. But I can tell you that whenever we talk to anyone about our amazing trip, we tell them that hiring Dermot as our driver for several days was the BEST planning decision we could have made. From the get-go, prior to our trip, his communication was excellent, answering all of our questions promptly and making recommendations for the different areas of the country we wanted to visit. That said, he made it clear that this was our trip and we could customize it however we wanted to, and that he was happy to be flexible day-to-day. From the moment he first picked us up at our hotel in Galway, he began sharing with us a wealth of Irish history, talked about the places through which we were driving, and provided myriad insights about Irish culture, its people and customs. Our travels took us primarily along the West Coast and while we hit all the usual tourist attractions (castles, monasteries, Cliffs of Moher) what made it really magical were the out-of-the way places that Dermot took us to where there was often nobody else, or perhaps only a few people. He even helped us find our way to tiny locales (truly off the beaten path) where my Irish ancestors were from, including a homestead that is still in the family generations later. Highly doubt we could have found them on our own! More than once, my husband declared, (as he looked out at the narrow roads we were on, where two cars couldn't possibly pass without one pulling over), "I'm SO GLAD I am not driving!" Dermot's bus was comfortable, with great views out the window, and we were able to sit back, relax and thoroughly enjoy the adventure while he did the driving. By the time our days with him were done, Dermot felt like an old friend. You could not find a nicer, more personable person to spend time with. We laughed together, had interesting conversations, learned more about Ireland, its history and its people than we could otherwise have hoped for. We HIGHLY recommend Dermot and Touras Eireann. You will not be disappointed!

Best trip ever because of Dermot. Highly recommend! He made our time in Ireland so much more enjoyable with his quit wit, history lessons and all the hidden spots that he knew about. He was flexible and allowed us to come up with our own itinerary. We never felt rushed. The bus was so comfortable and spacious. By the end of the trip Dermot was one of the family. We were all sad to have to say goodbye. Can't wait to go back and our first call will be to Dermot!!
