A lovely introduction to country Irish pubs

Good Guinness, good company and comfy beds, only bettered by the full Irish the next morning served by friendly hosts.

Travelling on the M9(Dublin to Waterford) recently we went towards Moone and found this delightful old pub where we had some tasty sandwiches at lunchtime. We had a warm welcome and interesting chat. Delightfully old fashioned and authentic. Not to be missed.

We only have a short time and trying to get a taste of the 'real' Ireland and by avoiding Motorways where possible, this brought us to a lovely country road and we pulled off for a quick coffee and toilet stop. WOW! what a beautiful little place this Inn is. Family run for decades, it's real, it's typical and it's... More

Myself and six friends travelled from Shropshire to Moone last weekend to attend our friends wedding. We were recommended the Moone High Cross by the bride and groome and we weren't disappointed. John,Una and their team were lovely and couldn't do enough for us.We were very well fed and the Guinness was delicious.... It is true what they say it is... More

A proper authentic family run pub. Friendly and engaging staff. A great pub if you have the chance to pop in!

The Mrs. and I was on a ride to Killarney in June 2006. Our planned route was the northern part of Ireland. When getting a flat tire outside Londonderry we had to change to a quicker route. After a tiring day we had to find a place to stay the night. We asked at some gas stations for advice, but... More

new motorways keep us whizzing bye,but we say you should take the time to turn off and see how such progress can have an adverse effect on an old charming places like this. But what a charming place it is and well worth a stop off for food or a few nights accomodation

We saw the signs on the road, and needed a pit stop mid morning after leaving Dublin, so we pulled in. So quaint, charming, just like old Ireland. We had brown bread and tea by the fire---wonderful. Wish we were hungry enough for lunch as the beef stew looked and smelled really good.

I visited the Moone High Cross Inn in June of 2008. I had decided not to stay at another accomodation that I had previously booked and elected to drive closer to Dublin since I was nearing the end of my trip. I saw the sign for the inn on the road and took a chance. It was a great place... More
