About Galway Bay Fishing
Galway Bay Fishing was established in 1999 by Kevin Mac Gabhann as a labour of love. Kevin was a well-known sailor and angler long before he launched his own boat and it may even be fair to say that his "marriage" to the "Maighdean Mara" (or "Maid of the Sea") was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

Best part about our trip was without doubt the skipper Kevin. Best boat skipper I ever went out with. Despite the current shortage of mackerel these days he got us onto plenty for baiting up for good pollack fishing. Every one around the boat caught. Some of the less experienced anglers had great help and encouragement from Kevin. Very easy access to well equipped boat and fishing off the Aran Islands in Galway bay. I will go again.

I've done a couple of deep sea fishing excursions but this experience had to be the best one yet. Kevin was THE BEST captain to have. I haven't been fishing in a little over a year so I felt a bit rusty on some of my techniques. Kevin was there to give helpful advice as well as untangle a few lines. We spent the entire day fishing and at one point had the Cliffs as an amazing backdrop. We saw tons of fish, jellyfish, sharks, and even some dolphins! The crew was incredibly friendly/knowledgeable and really made it a point to make sure everyone had a good time. If you're in Galway or Spiddal this is an absolute must do. This was trip was great solo and I'm sure kids would have just as much of a blast. By far one of the best days of my trip.

We were a group of 8 people and we're not experienced at fishing. Kevin brought us out on the bay for an evening trip. It was a very enjoyable experience. Kevin was very friendly, knowledgeable and great fun. The time flew as we all enjoyed it so much. I highly recommend this as a nice weekend way to experience the Wild Atlantic Way.

Really recommend this day out. Can’t imagine fishermen like to book anything too far in advance when dealing with weather conditions so give him a ring the week before or when you arrive in the area and give him a few options for days. We went from Rossaveel pier at this time of year as it was too exposed at Spiddal. We had choppy conditions due to winds from the west later in the day so be prepared for all conditions. Also take a packed lunch. Tea and coffee are made by Kevin and there is a toilet on the boat. We were out for the full day with a great group of people and got a decent catch of Pollock, coley, mackerel and dog fish. The catch (except the dog fish and the small fish-sustainable fishing!) was cleaned on board by Kevin and couple of great guys from Galway, Peter and Greg. We had the Pollock for tea that night. Perfect end to a great day. The cute seal was added bonus in the harbour when got back,so keep a few small fish for him. 😊 Kevin is a great and knowledgable skipper who supports all levels of ability. Highlight of our holiday.
