About
Galway Bay Fishing was established in 1999 by Kevin Mac Gabhann as a labour of love. Kevin was a well-known sailor and angler long before he launched his own boat and it may even be fair to say that his "marriage" to the "Maighdean Mara" (or "Maid of the Sea") was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

Best part about our trip was without doubt the skipper Kevin. Best boat skipper I ever went out with. Despite the current shortage of mackerel these days he got us onto plenty for baiting up for good pollack fishing. Every one around the boat caught. Some of the less experienced anglers had great help and encouragement from Kevin. Very easy access to well equipped boat and fishing off the Aran Islands in Galway bay. I will go again.

We had a fantastic day out with the family. From beginning to end we were treated to a lovely experience with Kevin’s very friendly personality. We had a few children with us and he was extremely patient with them. Encouraging them to actively participate. The boat was very expressive and the views on our trip were breathtaking. I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of booking. We caught loads of mackerel, cod & pollack. Which we took home with us for many dinners to come.
Thanks Kevin

Went out the end of May for a night trip with my uncle and two kids (20 and 14). After a very short drive, Kevin put us right on the bite. My kids were pulling up 3 at a time. Kevin was great with the kids, helping with whatever we needed. My son said 'this was the best fishing trip ever'

Had a great day with a great guide. Really enjoyed it. Nice to go to one of the Aran Islands for lunch. Our company caught a lot of fish that we could make a nice dinner with.

On May 12th, I sent Kevin an email letting him know that my husband and I would be in Galway from July 1-3 and that we wanted to book a day trip one of those days. His response stated that "I am sure I will be able to slot you in with a group around 2nd July let me know a week or so before you come over." On June 15th, I wrote back to him that I was checking in again so that I wouldn't forget while we were vacationing in Ireland, and I reiterated that we would be in Galway July 1-3, and I stated that July 2nd was perfect. I asked him to reserve two spots for us. He replied, "I still have you booked in for that." I asked him at what time and where should we meet him and he responded that we were leaving Spiddal Pier at 9 a.m. I thanked him. On July 2nd, at 8:30 a.m. my husband and I arrived at Spiddal Pier. At 9:10 a.m. I drove to the nearest gas station to borrow a phone (we left our phones at home) to call him and he told me that he wasn't going out that day. He went out the day before instead and blamed me for not contacting him a week in advance (I contacted him 2.5 weeks in advance). We could have changed our plans for the previous day to make it work had he been organized enough to send me an email notification. It worked out for us in the end because we found other businesses perfectly happy to take our 120 Euros. While wasting our time waiting on the pier, we couldn't help but notice he had left a full barrel of garbage on the boat, which I'm guessing came from the previous day's tour.

Great experience with Galway Bay Fishing! For the start of the season we were still able to get a great day of fishing in! Crew were very knowledgeable of great spots to fish, they even fillet the fish you catch to bring home, which is great when your only on holiday and don't have sharp knifes to complete the job correctly. Stopped at Aran island for a pint and lunch and great conversation with the Skipper, Was given a great recipe for our catch and came out AMAZING! Highly recommend them for your day of fishing, beyond great value for the money spent! A must do trip if you are by Galway/Spiddal.

We called Kevin to arrange the trip the day beforehand, he texted back saying it'd be fine, all very casual, which I like.
We arrived at Spiddal in plenty of time, found the boat, and left around 15 minutes early. There were 5 of us fishing, Kevin stopped at a spot he thought may have fish, unfortunately it didn't, so we sailed on to another spot, luckless once more, so he sailed out another 35 minutes to a sandbank. At this point we were all a bit skeptical about catching anything, no danger, within 5 minutes of stopping we'd caught Pollack, Pouting, Ling, Mackrel, Cod, and Sand Eels.
It was a great trip, he was in no hurry to travel back, we had more than enough time fishing, the weather was excellent, the rods/equipment was free, and they gutted the fish for us, which we ate the following night, tasted great!.
All in all a really great and relaxing 3 1/2 hours were had.

We were a group of 8 people and we're not experienced at fishing. Kevin brought us out on the bay for an evening trip. It was a very enjoyable experience. Kevin was very friendly, knowledgeable and great fun. The time flew as we all enjoyed it so much. I highly recommend this as a nice weekend way to experience the Wild Atlantic Way.
