Saw this place online before heading to Galway and I was not disappointed. I wanted to buy sooo many things but I'm using it as an excuse to go back! Andrea Rossi 's studio, the glass studio and the coin/jeweller were my favourites. Some were closed but it is definitely worth stopping here to pick up some hand crafted Irish gifts for yourself or a friend

Loved! Loved! Loved! Cafe, the multiple shops, available with so many handcrafted items. What more could you want from locals while visiting but their heritage & history available for storing in your house. Most even offer overseas shipping.

Just to reconfirm Victor Martin's account below, put so eloquently, about Ciaran's basket making courses...two days, quite intensive, and you come away with a bread basket and a 'bin' type basket..I am not dexterous, and concentration not my forte, but Ciaran is such a good, and patient teacher, that each of us attending came away with lovely work. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch each day in Builin Blasta (not included in price). Lovely mix of people and ages attended the course. Great idea as a gift for someone...highly recommended..he also has a lovely gift shop attached..with willow work, and other tasteful gifts...mainly made from natural materials.

We stopped here because it looked interesting. It took us about ten minutes to walk round, and I think that we were typical - one of the shops is interesting, but everyone's ONE interesting shop will be different. We did buy two pictures from Ms Rossi, an artist whose shop is filled with original works.
Husband: "You must work non-stop."
Artists: "Sure, the winters here are very, very long."

What a whimsical, artsy destination. It truly is lovely. I enjoyed visiting all the artisans, and spending some of my euros for Irish keepsakes. And my Dad, who is not much of a shopper, enjoyed the lovely café. Great destination.

This is a small collection of about 8 craft studios and shops - basketweaving, ceramics, glass, screen printing, jewelry making. Mostly mid-range ($) items. All are anchored by a lovely cafe with light fare and baked goods. Best of all, it is all set against a glorious stretch of coastline with a lovely view. I took the bus from Galway (30-35 minute ride) and spent about 2 hours total in Spideal. If you are driving directly to the craft village, an hour will be sufficient (depending on how long you linger over your tea). Don’t expect super high-end stuff but do expect local craftspeople, working in their studios, and selling their wares in small, adjacent shops. I enjoyed my time here and was really glad I came.

Well this was a real find! As a craft lover this was right up my alley and could have spent hours here. A variety of little artisan shops showcasing various arts including photography, glass work, pottery, weaving and much more. We arrived a little early which was fine, but even after being there for over an hour after opening time, some shops had not opened so we were unable to visit them. Hence the four star rating. Great for some unusual souvenirs and gifts for family and friends. Definitely recommend.

This was my second time to do a course with Ciaran. Really enjoyed the classes and Ciaran was really patient. A great teacher. Came away with 2 baskets and all our family group really enjoyed themselves and were delighted with there new weaving skills!
