I've brought different foreign friends there several times and I'm done with it. Pretty to look at but that's where it ends. The staff member who takes your money is not pleasant ever. They outdone themselves this time. We had 2 empty coffee cups in hand and as we bought our tickets I asked has they a bin we could use behind the desk or anywhere to put empty cups. "No" was the only and final reply. No queue behind us, no eye contact made, no I'm sorry we do don't have one. Just as rude as they come. The Castle is a bad representation of a castle. It's a self guided tour and very weak on information. A view of the bay from the roof is about the height of it.
There are many finer castles to visit. I was at Cahir Castle since. Brilliant tour and only €5. entry. Ps unsafe to climb the little stairs with hands carry anything so we just put our cups on the first surface we met. A rip off and the best part the pic is free anyway. Take a pic and move on.

This once ruined castle was restored to create a much loved home for an aristocrat in the mid 1900s.

Set in a lovely location by the sea, the interiors contain some fine fifteenth and sixteenth century furniture. For children there are models of princesses and knights in armour.

There is parking on the adjacent road and toilets in the castle.

This is a small tower house and you get to visit four floors, one room on each. After this you walk around the battlements ( very narrow) for the views. If you see a coach or large numbers of cars give it a miss, but we were lucky with only 6 other people there.

Located in the amazing village of Kinvara, our experience was limited to a walk up to the locked gates and a quick trip around the precarious path surrounding the castle. We visited at about 11 am on the Bank Holiday Monday (surely a busy date on the tourism calendar!) to find the place milling with tourists but the attraction closed. We were too early perhaps. One can appreciate the raw, coastal beauty, and there could be restrictions on what can be done, but the area at the front could do with a little TLC. Might return when it's open to fully experience what it has to offer.

We visited as part of our trip to Galway County.

Not very big & there are far better castles across Ireland . It is worth a photo stop though as the castle is close to the waters edge.

In my view not one of those must do's as it literally takes about 15 mins to move through as the Castle is quite small

Well worth a quick stop on your way along the Wild Atlantic Way. The village is a good lunch stop anyway and the views across the bay to the castle are as "classic" as Eilean Donan in Scotland! Very, very cute, perfectly restored castle in a picture-perfect position on a tiny island with a causeway. Walk into the courtyard and pay to go up the tower. Some furnished rooms & historical information (though some maintenance & cleaning wouldn't go amiss...) & great views from the roof.

Our tour guide did a quick stop at Dunguaire Castle. This is a typical Norman tower built primarily for defense. We were able to take a quick walk around of the Castle grounds, a take a few pictures. As there was no charge for entry, the short stop was worth our time.

This is my second time coming here and I have enjoyed it both times. I do not think a 'skip the line' ticket is necessary. Its very accessible and doesn't take long to tour the whole grounds. It is very cool and has a great history that you are able to read about throughout the rooms of the castle.

Yes it’s nice to look at from the outside but actually not much inside and was done within fifteen minutes of looking around. Definitely stop to take a picture but if heading elsewhere then just keep going. More of a tower than a castle.

Parking was easy to find within a few minutes walk to the castle. The castle itself is in good condition and is so very stereotypical of what we expected to see driving in Western Ireland. Well worth the stop and walk around the castle grounds.
