Cute little lighthouse on the uninhabited side of the island. It was so foggy/rainy when we came across the bay you could barely see the lighthouse but fortunately we got a closer look. We took a tour with a local who pulled us around on a trailer with a tractor and stopped at all the best sites. Best way to see everything!

As we had bikes this site was easy to visit - took about 15 mins to cycle to the lighthouse. The gates were unlocked the day we visited so we were able to get into the site however nothing more.

Such a shame. Fantastic cottages going to waste and no information on the lighthouse. Not even sure if it is still operational.

Interesting visit but could be great.

We took the ferry to the island and decided to explore it on our own. We walked to the lighthouse (which is almost on the other side of the island) and enjoyed every minute. There are lots of rocky paddocks with cows and horses along the way. It is quite a walk back if you want to make it to the ferry in time. We would do this again, but would consider taking the pony rides or would walk a little faster on the way to the lighthouse. We were bundled up in lots of layers when we arrived, but had taken as many off as we could by the end of the walk. Be sure to take your camera with you, as there are some amazing photo opportunities. There is a neat little tea & coffee shop right at the ferry dock, near the bike rental place. Be sure to stop in and support the locals.

The smallest of the Aran islands. We took a horse drawn tour by a wonderful young man named Matthew. This is truly the best way to get a real sense of life on the island. He was able to give us the history of his home as well as "paint" a vivid picture of what growing up and living on the islands entails.
We saw the lighthouse as well as the other points of interest on our tour of Inishere. We asked Matthew to take us to a local knit shop supplied by the cottage industry of local island knitters. My husband purchased a beautiful hand knit fisherman's sweater. If you go, please consider contributing in some way to the local economy. It is not easy to make a living on this small island.
All in all, it was a very interesting and informative day.

We hired some bikes and cycled around the island taking in the lighthouse, which you can see from some distance around the island and also on the ferry as you approach the island from Doolin. It is worth the trip to see the lighthouse and the scenery is beautiful, which includes the cliffs of Moher. However you can't pass the closed gate to the lighthouse.

I didn't actually get to see the lighthouse because the road to it had been washed away, but I saw the rest of the island. The natives are extremely friendly. The accommodations are lovely. The island boasts all kinds of natural phenomena like seal lookouts for a small seal colony as well as ancient ruins and historical castles. There is also a historical society stocked with lovely hand knitted items, etc. They gave a map of the island to find everything, like the shipwreck that you can walk right into. At night, Tig Raurie (sp?) Rory's House is the place to be. It's a bed and breakfast with two bars. One bar closes early and then you migrate to the other one for traditional Irish music as well as modern music. There is much Gaelic being bantered around because this is the place where the Irish go to get away from it all. You can't go wrong staying here a night or two and maybe you'll want to stay longer once you have a taste of it!

We cycled down to the lighthouse, worth a photo opportunity. The road is a little rough in places and only suitable for bikes as there’s nowhere to turn

A fair walk from the dock on Innis Orr to the light house on the far side of the island it is a promenant sight on the south side of the island. We made a loop from the dock to the shipwreck and along the coast to the lighthouse - total travel about 2 hours. The scenery is magnificent!

Good end point for a very pleasant cycle on the island. The light house itself is closed and cannot be visited. So not much to say about the light house itself. The cycle to it offers great views
