Be alert when looking for this archeologic site; I think there is only one sign. You let yourself in through two gates to an overgrown site of a ruined church and graveyard. My 12 year old daughter found it too creepy for her tastes when...More

Located on the road to St. John’s Point (take the second road off the N56 going west out of Dunkineely) the ruins of this church are picturesque. Look for the brown informational sign on the left hand side of the road. Entry is gained through...More

The old Killaghtee Church and graveyard is definitely off the beaten track and is unfortunately not maintained despite its historical value. However, it is worth the effort to visit – you can imagine what it must have been like before it started to decay and...More

I visited this spot in June. I had no idea that it was there, and so everything was a bit of a surprise. Things were quite overgrown, compared with the pictures on this page, and I was quite alone there. An amazing bit of history...More

The church was interesting, and there was a board to explain its history. Lovely agricultural views from outside, parking non-existant. Not worth the struggle to get to it.

You'll see the sign where you have to turn off the road, but still it's quite an adventure to discover these old ruins. Make sure you search enough for the old Killaghtee Cross that is actually on a gravestone. Considering it's nearly 1400 years old...

The church is a ruin and I don't believe it has been in use for a couple of hundred years.
