I am the family historian. I planned a visit to Ireland this summer, and did my research on my Irish side. My mother's father emigrated from Co. Clare, and was from Ennis, but that is all I knew. I just couldn't get any further back. So, I contacted the Clare Heritage Centre and filled out their form. I told them... More

Thinking this was a heritage centre with useful info about the surrounding area were disappointed to find the museum door locked with a bell to ring. A charge of e3.50 to go in but with little indication of what there was to see. It also looked rather dated and unwelcoming. Had we wanted to use the genealogy centre we would... More

Have struggled to find the words to describe what a wonderful gift the Centre and Antoinette are to those of us with Irish Heritage. It was at the very end of our time in Ireland and I attended somewhat reluctantly given that we were due to fly out in little over a day. Surely not enough time to achieve anything.... More

After having filled in the online form, we turned up at the Centre with no prior warning. Antoinette was extremely accommodating, quickly finding details of family members we had never heard of. It was definitely necessary to come with key names, dates and details of the family we did know. Antoinette and the team were extremely helpful over the following... More

In addition to working on our family history, this Centre has an exhibit about the area and habitat. The region, burren, and various tours are described to help plan and explore west Clare. My husband contacted Antoinette O'Bryen months in advance of our trip to provide all the information we had available about family members. We were able to make... More

I recently used the Clare Heritage Center to research my family's heritage. Antionette and other staff members went out of their way to help me find my family's roots. Not only did they provide extensive paper research but they went above and beyond to actually locate a second cousin who took me all over to see the homes where my... More

A brilliant gateway to the national park, with guidance, guides, and free bus trips into the park for walking.

This center is seemingly all about business and not much of a cultural center. So unless you come with intent to spend money don't expect a warm welcoming like ethnic cultural centers in the U.S. The only heritage here is a cottage industry business enterprise doing family research. With all the info available on line i.e. ancestry.com , Griffiths Evaluation... More

We were in Ireland from Australia and Antoinette was very nice when we approached in September 2015 to arrange to get a family history research done. We handed over the credit card for around $400 aust and were told that our report on the research would take a couple of months as 'we are snowed under at the moment'. Happily... More

We arranged in advance for research to be done based on our limited knowledge about my mother's family who left Clare for America during the Famine in 1845. Antoinette was very helpful, explaining what censuses and Griffith Valuations (land studies done to determine what amounts Irish farmers would pay to the Church of Ireland in the 1830's) showed of my...
