This self-guided, zip line / ropes/obstacle course was a lot of fun and challenging.

We completed the beginner Fish Trail which had great obstacles as well as zip lines. This trail in particular had a few options for ways to complete it quickly if you realize you want to be on a more advanced trail. We took the long route on this trail and had a great time. The Bird Trail was recommended by the staff as they say that is a popular trail. This trail was a fun and challenging for us and featured a chance to be in the “bird house” which was super cool. While we could give you a few tips on how to navigate some of the most challenging obstacles, what’s the fun in that?

We definitely recommend booking for an early morning spot as the cooler weather makes the experience more enjoyable. I would say for the beginner and moderate trails you could finish 3 trails in the 2.5 hour time period. I assume that is the same for the advanced trails, but we did not feel up for an advanced trail. Also 2.5 hours is plenty of time on the course, you will be exhausted.

The staff was great, really chill and was attentive to making sure we had a good time. Safety was their #1 concern but did it in a fun manner. At $50 per person, I’m not sure you could find a zip line experience for much cheaper, worth every penny.

The outdoor adventure offered by Navitat Knoxville at the IJAMS Nature Center is indeed excellent! It was a treat to find such a spot so close to Knoxville on the south side of the Tennessee River. We felt like we were in the wilderness. IJAMS has created a delightful outdoor space for learning about local flora and fauna. We did not explore it entirely due to time constraints so I can only discuss the Navitat experience. It is an obstacle course of sorts which includes climbing, balancing, and best of all zip lining. Our guides assisted us with all the equipment which is included in the price. Harness, helmet, gloves and multiple highly technical doodads that clip and unclip, slide and snap to keep you extra safe every second you are on the trail. Once equipped and briefed, you walk about 3 minutes into the woods and get further suited up, trained and briefed. Then you get to try using the equipment yourself while standing on the ground. It was perfect training as the guide stood there and watched and helped each person to make sure we got it. Then it’s up into the trees you go. Mr. and I plus 2 able bodied seniors started with the most beginner course, then did the second beginner course and then, feeling mighty courageous, we dared to attempt the moderate course. Happily we succeeded at all three and were plenty ready to go by then. You get about 2 hours to play once the briefings and training are complete. You can go on any course you want. The guides are right there ready to assist any way they are needed but they don’t go with you up into the trees unless you need to be rescued. I recommend this activity to any able bodied person who can do a few push ups, balance themselves on wobbly things, and hang using their arms. Of course you are completely supported by the harness always so you are NOT actually hanging from your arms ever. Don’t worry, be happy! Do this! It is fun!

The employees are all super friendly and helpful. Super great at answering any question or concerns. The course has several levels of difficulty for all types of climbers. The course is super safe and you are always locked into a harness the moment you leave the ground. I’d recommend this course to anyone. I would say that the best deals are for people that are hoping to do the course more than once. Single time users to pay a higher fee, that being said, I would totally recommend buying a multi time package.

I booked a spot for 2 adults and one 11 year old (tall for age) and we did have fun, even though our time was cut short due to lighting. Safety was the number one priority. It took our group (5 of us) about 20 minutes to get into harnesses and helmets. Then it took close to 40 minutes of training on the harnesses and course orientation. The clipping in and clipping out is a bit tricky if you've never done it before so that takes some time to master. Because of that, I probably would not bring anybody younger than 11, even though they take as young as 7. If my 8 year old nephew had come, he would not have been able to do the clip in-clip out. We got about 4 platforms in before they called us down due to lighting in the area (a very fast storm was moving through). We had the option to wait it out, and probably would have had the children not been there and it not been the last day of their visit. We opted for a partial 50% refund and when the owner found out we had barely any time on the course, I was offered a 20% off coupon for my next visit - they definitely wanted to make sure we had a good time and didn't feel short-changed! The course we did was super fun and their focus on safety made me feel very comfortable and able to enjoy myself. I will definitely be going back to spend more time on the course.

Over two visits, we ended up bringing 3 generations of family members, ranging from 10 years old, 30s, 40s, and our 75 year old Grammy. Everyone had a wonderful time! My 10 year old son scampered around on the beginning and moderate courses like he was born to do it. My mother was able to do both beginner courses, and my brother, sister-in-law, and I had fun and got a workout doing the moderate courses after getting warmed up on the beginner courses. I am terrified of heights, but I was able to work my way through by focusing on the elements. By the time I got to the zip lines at the end they were a fun reward for the hard work to get there. We ranged from being fit to pretty out of shape, but we all had a great time and we will definitely be back! The guides were helpful and encouraging, answered any questions we had, but also stayed out of our way if we didn't need any help. It was all perfect!

My nephew and I had a great time. The employees were safety conscious, friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help when we'd get turned around or needed help. They were there to help whenever you needed them. And during the time of social distancing they made sure everyone had masks on and stayed spaced out. while we geared up and returned to take our gear off.
They made sure we were strapped into our gear, including gloves and helmet, and sent us through a orientation on how the safety system works which keeps you secure in the different courses and how to use the zip lines. I was a little worried about my nephew, 13, that he wouldn't be able to pick up on how to secure yourself and use the zips because it was his first time and the steps involved to go from one trail to the other. They walked him through it in the orientation and he picked it up pretty easily. There are a wide variety of courses and experience levels from beginner to advanced with combinations of climbing, obstacles, and zip lines. Both of us were first time climbers me moderately athletic and my nephew swims and takes karate, and the courses can be challenging. I felt like for the two hours we were up in the trees we got our money's worth. we were pretty tired and ready to get something to eat afterwards.
One thing to note. Appointments are rain or shine. We had to climb in the rain which made things a little slippery so make sure you have good footwear. I had running shoes so I slipped a few times but you're strapped into the safety system so if you slip off you can get back on the course pretty easy. My nephew didn't seem to have any problems he had running trail shoes on.

My 2 kids, 16 and 14, had a great time at this beautiful and challenging ropes course. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They got the kids geared up and allowed us to come with them back into the woods, a truly beautiful setting, where the ropes course is set up. There is an expansive course with many levels from beginner to intermediate to advanced and expert. Many climbing obstacles and challenges as well as small to medium length zip runs. Only advice is to schedule a time with them in advance so you don't show up and find out that certain times are already filled up.

For both visitors and locals, when I think of a fun outdoor experience that I'm willing to pay for, Navitat would be my top choice. The courses are creative, and anyone can find something challenging to work on. The staff has been friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic both times I have visited. Their technical design of the course is also quite impressive, where safety is placed first (double anti-locking carabiners means you literally can't unclip yourself from the course). Lastly, don't forget to check out the rest of Ijam's while you're there!

I just happened upon this activity while visiting from out of town. It was a hidden gem! I'd never done anything like it. The harness system was easy to use and gave me a great level of comfort. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'd never seen a forest from within a tree, so that was a cool new vantage point. I was able to try all the courses. I could see kids navigaing the lower level runs with ease. The hardest path could provide a challenge for younger participants.

Since you're always harnessed in you can make most runs as challenging as you want them to be. You can use the line your hanging from for support or challenge yourself to complete the run with as little support from the rope above.

I'd highly recommend it.

My wife and I wanted to try this with our 9yo son and he loved it. After doing the beginner course, he immediately went on the intermediate course and enjoyed every minute of the 2.5 hours we had booked . We went for the photo package for $20 which allowed us to focus on the experience and not have to worry about fumbling around with a phone or camera while in the trees. Suitable for all ages and safe as your harness is never unhooked from a line once starting the course and there are zipline exits if you are not willing to tackle an obstacle.
