Worth the drive. Since it was an earthen fort there's not much to see but the signage is good and it's worth 30 minutes of your time. Take some swimming clothes - the quarry there is lovely!

This is a lesser known location in the Battle of Knoxville. While there is not much remaining of the small fort, the views are fantastic and there are several signs to read for information. There is free parking on site. It is worth going if...More

The fort itself was very small but had useful information about the battlements. There is a trail from the overlook that wraps around to the quarry, but most people seem to drive around to the back, walk across the train tracks, cut through the path,...More

If you downloaded the PDF for the map the 2 parking lots off of W Blount Ave does not exist! The main & I think only entrance to this park is off of Chapman Hwy. When you pull in, there will be a very small...More

I came here a few times in elementary school, but that was in the early mid seventies! It seems smaller but it’s been kept well and the circle at the base was nice and serene! The trails for hiking and the over look of the...More

While visiting Knoxville we went to Fort Dickerson Park, which has historical significance as a well-preserved fort from the Civil War era. Nice view of the city from across the Tennessee River. The park contains several trails and spots for a picnic. A great place...More

This is not only a pleasant park to spend some time in and maybe have some lunch at one of the picnic pavilions, there's a bit of Civil War history to be learned as well. The park has several informational displays that explain the importance...More
