We planned on doing an outside activity that day but it rained we decided to go to the railroad instead. The Lionel trains inside were great. The train ride was good. The train Stewart was good and the lunch was good. A little expensive I thought

Viewed the exterior of cars being upgraded on the interior for tours and events. Knoxville's railroad history is rich with past passenger routes and freight today. There is a viewing platform to watch the occasional thru freight and a retail business inside the depot. A written text available for self-guided tours has much about passenger trains thru here when these cars were in use.

This is the most poorly organized so called attraction in Knoxville. Despite the online site showing it is opened from 11-5 except on Monday, it has not been opened when we tried twice to visit this attraction. Calling before going there is useless as no one ever answers the phone, (called at least 15 times with no answer on many different days), there is no message, and you cannot leave one. The sign on the door stating that if the door is locked ring the bell is also useless. Don't waste your time with this one. Second visit was on 8/24/22.

This was a disaster. All of the cars were locked except one (sort of), I tried the handle, and it opened but I immediately realized that something was amiss. The lock had been broken and somebody had taken up unauthorized residence inside. Definitely no longer a tourist attraction nor a safe place to visit. Some of the old car descriptions were still in the windows but this is no longer an active museum. I would add photos, but they would frighten you. Avoid.

Interior tours are available by appointment to see the interior of a 1915 private car, 1927 mail car, and a Pullman 12 compartment sleeper.

I had my grandson and family with me, and it was an interesting journey into the past. My 8-year old grandson and his 70+ Grandfather really bonded and now there is a large and ever growing toy train system that has taken over the entire basement of gramp's house. Fun for all ages.
