I am taking golf lessons and the instructor recommended Target Golf. They have a driving range, as well as a Par 3 course. I have only been to the driving range so far, since I'd like to go for a few more practice sessions before trying an actual game. The setting is really nice. It isn't too far of a drive from anywhere in Knoxville, but you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. The scenery surrounding the driving range is really nice. I didn't feel weird or self conscious about being a beginner. Everyone there was really casual. Some even brought their kids. It wasn't empty, but it wasn't super crowded either. The best part is that you can go just about any time. The sign states they are open daily 9AM-9PM. When I went on a Sunday afternoon, there was no attendant. You just put your credit card in a machine that dispenses balls. The golf instructor cautioned me to be sure the basket was in place before pressing the button - I guess there have been a few incidents with balls going all over the place (I would have loved to have seen that.) Also, there are bathrooms available near the pro shop. The shop was closed at the time, but the bathrooms were still open. I look forward to trying their Par 3 course sometime soon. I'll definitely be at this driving range on a regular basis.
