We love this place and go there a couple times a week to watch the wolves be fed, and to hike on their numerous trails.

Wow! We went here with 4 children 6 and under. All had a great time! The planetarium, herbatarium, farm museum, and Zip line are currently closed due to COVID but still a lot to see. We loved the wolves and even got to witness them howling. We enjoyed seeing the large birds (owls, hawks), deer and the fox. We didn’t get to see the bobcat or beavers. We took the barge ride. It’s well worth it and informative on local wildlife and trees. The boat ride was very relaxing. Must purchase tickets to ride boat. Plenty of picnic tables in the park for picnicking. Lots of hiking trails too. We didn’t hike since we had 4 little ones and it was pretty hot but lots of trails for those wanting to hike. I highly recommend this park! Only $5 per vehicle too. Can’t beat that!

Even though I had a rough time with the terrain I still rated this park a five because of the wonderful atmosphere of the great outdoors. We also went on a barge ride on the mountain lake and saw a beaver lodge and heard the wolves howling in their area. The lady howled at them as we floated by and the howled back!!

What a great way to spend a day outdoors with nature! Watching the wolves feed was amazing and the volunteers were so knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. The reptile room needed some attention but this was a neat trip. The hike up to the fire tower was nice and the lake was beautiful . There are plenty of trails. Definitely worth the visit!

I grew up in Kingsport and moved away in 1976. Son moved to SW VA and we brought the grand kids as I had fond memories of going to Bays Mountain. It was VERY COLD the day we went but had a great time. Kids loved it. Quite a few outdoor animal exhibits are are closed in the Winter. No otters, bobcat was probably there but hiding. A few birds were there. The wolves were the highlight. The wolf pen and actually divided in 4 sections. Our day there we thought we were out of luck, however, we finally saw movement on the far side. We took the gravel trail that goes around the wolf area and got very close to the pack. If you don't see them along the paved path, take the short hike to go along the gravel path. While we had a great time I think the best time to visit, if you want a better chance to to see more animals, would be in the warmer months. The same is true with the bee exhibit. No bees in the winter.
