This is a city park. Admission by the car. They have local zoo animals, free range deer, zip line, small lake with a barge ride, planetarium, and a lot of hiking trails. Usually have a lot of activities going on, so check their web site.

Took a family from out of town to visit Bays Mountain. Very enjoyable. Lots of shade. Had a picnic lunch while we were there. Did not see the planetarium. Will go back later for that.

Easy to find. Once there, use signs to find areas of interest. Ample parking in most areas. Small zoo attractions are fairly close to each other but, walking a lot of up and down hilly trails. Not recommended for walkers/wheelchairs

Liked all the animal exhibits. One the last visit, there were lots of school groups, so the park gave us a pass for another day because the planetarium shows and barge rides were all booked. That was very nice. It's a good place for a picnic and really enjoyed seeing the animals.

This was our first visit to the park. Even though it was 90+ degree weather under the shade of all the trees it was really comfortable. This park is a nice getaway for the family for a day. Will definitely return in the Fall to view the foliage.

This place was recommended to us as we were looking for a place to hike. When we arrived and saw the map, we realized there was so much more to do. We looked at the animal exhibits and then hiked for 8 miles. There were shorter hikes available but my teens wanted to do some serious exploring. The trails were... More
