TheChester Inn is the oldest commercial building still standing in downtown Jonesborough. It is free to tour but the suggested donation is $2.00. The downstairs provides a glimpse into the history of the town and the upstairs has three rooms that are decorated circa 1880s.
The staff was very informative. It's free admission, but they ask for donations. The rooms changed over the years so they've worked hard to restore it with period correct items. With all the history about the town and the inn it's certainly worth taking the...More

The young gentleman on duty, a history student and local, showed me around the exhibits, some of which he set up. Very informative as the early cross-roads Jonesborough once was as Tennessee's oldest town. Spend a half-hour here.
This is a must! I was enthralled with the docent tour of upstairs rooms. She was a fountain of information. The period decor is true to life then. The self-guided downstairs is well-done. This town and area is unique.
