    Great monastery
Second visit to this peaceful and charming place. The setting is high in the hills so gives amazing views with time and space to sit and contemplate. Plenty of reasonably priced wine on offer to purchase. Unfortunately the cafe next door does not match up. Unless you want chips the only option left is Greek salad which we found lacking in the usual Cypriot standards. ( tomato, lettuce and white cabbage drowning in olive oil), served with bread containing green mould spots. And sadly when I discreetly made staff aware, I was given the cold shoulder and charged full price. They then tried to attract me to their stall outside to purchase fruits, veg and souvenirs! ( it was a firm but polite no!) Please do not let this put you off visiting the monastery though!!!

    Great place to visit
Me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed visiting here during our holiday in Cyprus. The buildings, chapel, and views of the surrounding area were amazing. One of the priests/monks engaged with us as much as he could (his English was very good but he knew his limitations), and we really enjoyed the things he showed us such as the 1770 doors and the wall access to the altar. A lady working in the shop was equally fantastic, spending time explaining the different icons and symbols, along with the history of the place. This place easily scores 5 out of 5. I score myself 1 out of 5 though because I forgot to bring cash and so missed an opportunity to take away some of their wine. I'd certainly go back given the opportunity one day!

    History, Culture, Views
Really worth a visit - we actually went to see it while on a tour around Easter and they were getting ready with a flower arrangement. It was so interesting to see. There is also a winery below ground which was where wine was produced in the past so a nice bit of history. Finally, the view is beautiful from here. The monk we met was friendly and happy to answer questions (we asked via our guide who spoke Greek).

Beautiful views (beware of "cafe" nearby)
Monastery is located on a hill overlooking a couple of valleys, it gives a really scenic views. Monastery itself is also interesting. Beware of small "cafe", first one on the way from monastery to Panagia village on the right. Run by two older woman that will try to rip you off! They use all kind of tricks to make you pay more (coffee that is on the menu for 1E turns out to be small, so you have to pay 2E because they brought you a big one, giving food you did not order and than charging for it plus probably a few more we did not experienced).

A beautiful and relaxing day out
Easily accessible by car or bus. Bus runs from Karavela bus station, Paphos, to the mountain village of Pano Panayia (the birthplace of Archbishop Makarios III). The village itself is very peaceful and beautiful and is worth a visit in its own right. The Monastery is an easy and delightful 2-3km walk from the village, with spectacular views. The monastery itself is small and very pretty. I suppose there's not a huge amount to see there, but still makes a lovely day out and the views from the monastery are second to none. The day I visited there was a sudden heavy downpour and sitting under the shelter of the café watching the rain pour down over the valleys below with the smell of the pine in the air was magical. Not to mention I was enjoying a glass of the monastery's award-winning red wine as I waited for the rain to subside. The monastery wines, as well as other gifts can be purchased there. Visiting the village, with its Makarios museum and his childhood home, coupled with the monastery makes a lovely, peaceful day out.

    Peace!
The views are stunning and if everyone is quiet the peacefulness is out of this world. How lucky the monks in the monastery are to have such a tranquil setting to live in.

    beautiful Monastery
This small Monastery has a lot of atmosphere, far more than Kykkos, as it has kept a rustic, authentic charm. The church contains a beautiful icon-panelled wall, neither too plain nor "dripping" with bright gold. It has a small ornate pulpit reached by a narrow side stairwell, and a brightly coloured painted mezzanine not seen in other places. The view over the green mountains is very calming, the plants in the cloister add to the special feel of this serene place.

    BEAUTIFUL VIEWS OVER THE VALLEY
Lovely peaceful place, a long drive from Paphos up some very windy roads but well worth it. The wine from this monastery can be purchased in the supermarket in Paphos!

It is a lovely drive from Paphos to this monastery. It is a lovely peaceful place where you can visit the monastery church or have a drink in the café which has amazing views. They also sell the monasteries wine in a little shop which is really nice.

Well worth a stop if you are driving in the mountains or thinking of a daytrip excursion (which is what I did). There is plenty of atmosphere, the location is lovely looking down into the valley, and the inside is interesting to explore.
