Sutton's Store has been restored to the way it was in the 1950's. It has everything you can remember from how things "used to be" for sale, from candy to ice cream to a "meat and three" on the weekends. They also have live music every Saturday night.

My wife and I had a wonderful time visiting this small town. The residents of Granville have done a fantastic job to make visitors feel as if they are stepping back in time and experiencing what a little Mayberry would be like. We were fortunate enough to get there in time to attend the dinner show, the dinner was good serving turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, yams, cranberry salad, rolls, as well as a choice of pecan pie or coconut cake. The show was a spoof from the Andy Griffith show of the 1960's and was quite entertaining and family friendly.

We visited in August, and many things weren't opened in Granville. Still, it was a nice place to visit and walk around. A few shops were opened, and the General Store was as well. We meandered through the shop for a while and enjoyed a good, but simple meal, with a real home-cooked taste. Everything was very good and the people of the town were so nice and friendly.

The store is a typical old country store like the ones I visited in other states. The meal before the show left a lot to be desired. We were not let into the dining room for fifteen minutes after the expected start. Food was cold. Boneless pork chop was over cooked, rock hard and dried out, Was not eatable. A little gravy might have helped but I don’t think so. We will not be returning. I will say the blue grass music was very nice and the band was entertaining.

We had thought about having lunch but when we looked at the menu we changed our minds. We did look around but we found nothing that was reasonably priced. This is usually the case in a tourist area. We did walk around a couple of times. We did buy a couple of keychains. There are picnic tables in the middle of the floor for people who are going to eat. We really never figured it out. I guess you sit down at the table and maybe they come and take your order.

We went out and did a tour of that whole town. Not a bad price for as much as you get for that price. They give you a dated sticker to put on your shirt which allows you into each of the museums and the home. We actually enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. So much interesting stuff to see and hear. They have bathrooms parking and allow photos to be taken.

You can't miss this if you are looking for real Americana, downhome Southern cooking, and some of the best blue grass music around. Since we moved to TN six years ago from Washington, DC, this is a go to spot for us and to take our out of town visitors to show them why we LOVE this area (the Upper Cumberland). Have never failed to have a rocking good time. Start with the family style dinner and thenshow. You get to sit in on a real radio show for the second performance. Ladies, there is great shopping, too. Last night, I bought a beautiful summer vest in a gift shop in Granville while hubby went to a museum (first things first). We are planning to go back for a couple of festivals (who can resist cornbread and moonshine). They just got an award as the 9th most charming general store in the US (I can not imagine one better). We bought our first cast iron skillet there and hubbys' first stetson. I missed the vintage fashion show yesterday though (darn). Now, the first time we went, we took friends from DC and I was not sure whether I even liked bluegrass (there is so much great stuff going on in the area that it did not even matter). Well, I found out- I LOVE bluegrass music (me, a 30 year city slicker from DC). Yep, LOVE it. And love Granville and the Sutton General store. And no, I did not get a free sample of moonshine for writing this review.

So we traveled another 50 miles based on a recommendation and fount this gem in Granville, TN. What we found was a two story country store with which features a balcony . It has been in business for 90 years. The original building has much of the same interior fixtures it had at the turn of the 20th century. The general store offers a converted feed room into a dining room offering family style country cooking with dining for groups of up to 40 by reservation. Furnishings and memorabilia are on display; unique gifts and merchandise are for sale. We loved it and only wished that we could have made time to be there for their famous corner stage where you can experience "Sutton Ole Time Music Hour". Which is broadcasted live each Saturday night. In talking to some of the locals they told us that some of Tennessee's Best Bluegrass and Ole Time Music is there every Saturday Night at 6pm for warm up and the show starts at 7pm. While there we enjoyed a lunch complete with a chocolate "old fashion shake" with 2 straws. By all means visit this area and town for a unique historic experience.

My wife and I may a trip down to Granville, TN to visit this charming little village. It is completely run by Volunteers, who work at various buildings, including the T. B. Sutton General Store, The Sutton House, The Bank Museum, Antique shops, Vintage car museum, and several other places. We first stopped in at the Sutton General Store. It is set up like an old time General Store, with plenty of vintage items to view. The store also serves as the local Restaurant, with one half of the store including some small tables for 2 to 4 people to sit and have a sandwich and drink, and another part of the building which is set up to look more like a dinning room, with enough tables to easily seat 30 or 40 people. (And I believe any groups who show up will be seated in that area of the building.) We were only looking for their lunch menu, so my wife and I sat at a small table near their serving area. We both ordered a Hot Ham and Cheese sandwich, which came with chips and a cold drink. My wife decided to "upgrade" her drink and got a Rootbeer Float, which was fabulous. The sandwich came on sourdough bread and was very good. They also have a regular Saturday night performance of Country Music which is broadcast live, and they are known for a special Christmas play, which I believe is called "A Mayberry Christmas", featuring all the "characters" from Andy Griffith's show. We found our time visiting in Granville, and especially the T. B. Sutton General Store to be very interesting and worth you time visiting, not only because of the History, but also because it is free! (Except the food). I would recommend coming by sometime just to experience it. They are only open Wednesdays through Saturdays.

The most pleasant place to visit. The people are friendly and wonderful hosts as you step back into yester year. The Sutton Store is authentic in every way (including the fried bologna sandwich).
The friendly people take you back in history with their stories of how it used to be in the day. Make sure you visit the gas station car museum. They are open Wednesday - Saturday starting at noon.

The menu is catered from a woman and usually is huge bowls of like fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes etc., (example only we had prime rib at one Valentine show) with a dessert. drink is sweet tea unsweet or water. They normally seat all together at tables with approximately 8 around it.

Hi My wife and I are coming to Heritage days. I am handicapped (and have placard for my car) because of trouble
walking any distance. I am concerned about parking and easy access to Pruitt stage for the bluegrass/fiddle festivities.
I plan to bring my own folding chair.
