About
The Franklin Theatre opened in the summer of 1937 when the marquee first illuminated Main Street. The downtown historic landmark closed in 2007 but reopened as a 300 seat venue in 2011 with an investment of more than $8.5 million to again entertain, enrich, inspire and connect our community. It still features classic and recent release movies, community and private events - but most exciting are the live concerts by diverse original talents such as Sheryl Crow, Art Garfunkel, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Vince Gill, Keb Mo and many more. From blues to bluegrass, country to classical, rock to roots...you'll find an amazing roster of shows in one of the best listening rooms anywhere!

We came to Nashville to hear great music and after we booked our hotel we noticed that Suzy Bogguss was playing near where we staying in Franklin, Tennessee. We knew nothing about the Franklin Theatre, but the locals to,d us that many big and small donors had resurrected this historical venue, notably Sheryl Crow who lives in the area. The seats are velour and high, staggered in order to give unobstructed viewing around the person ahead of you. The slope from front to back is about 30 degrees placing the people in the back some distance from the singers, but the venue is about the size of an average theater making this not a problem. There are no obstructed view seats although obviously the ones on the side of the sound booth in the back would not be as desirable. They were a little short on bar help, the bar manager was the bartender this evening. We didn’t have any food or treats on this night, but they are the equivalent of a movie theater fare; this venue also shows movies. The Suzy Bogguss concert was perfect for this venue, she does an occasional acoustic set and her classic mix off her Aces album resounded perfectly in an intimate venue like this. We saw her in Minneapolis at a larger venue designed in a more “surround-sound” type setting; the Franklin Theatre had better sound although the sight lines were better. We loved this place in Historic Downtown Franklin with easy parking and many fabulous food choices. Make reservations at the restaurants on concert nights especially on the weekends. Great experience, great people.

We visited for the awesome show of Lee Roy Parnell and Friends - including the beautiful Ms. Lisa Stewart and the incredible guitarists Seth James and Anson Funderburgh. These guys put on a helluva show.
Lots of historic charm as Franklin theater was originally built in the 1930's, fell into disrepair in the 00's and eventually went through a big-budget renovation and restoration.
Incredible sound and lighting system, comfortable seats and an overall great feel to the place. Loved the easy bar and concessions service.
A great place to see a live show.

Awesome concert, venue was excellent as usual. Took my 15 year old granddaughter and wasn't sure she would like it, but she loved it and is even more excited about her own music now.
Amazing group to see, and we attend The Franklin Theatre at least 4-5 times per year.

We agree with the last reviewer. We had a bad experience and will not return. Purchased tickets well in advance, with no vaccination requirement warning. We travelled from out of town and then were turned away at the door, by hostile employee, because we had no proof of vaccination. Turns out they sent an email the day before, in which, buried at the bottom in fine print, they advised that their policy had changed and vaccination proof was required. Big Brother is watching, and we will not be returning.

First time to ever go to this theatre. Drove all the way from Nashville. Got there and these Karens put up a COVID restriction 24 hours before the show to deny unvaccinated people access without a vaccine passport. Only place in all of Knoxville with this restriction, and they did this 24 hours before the event. No vaccine? No entry and No refund! So be prepared to show up there and show their Gestopo your papers, cuz you aint getting in! U of T won't even have these restrictions for their 100,000 stadium. The bars downtime don't even have these restrictions. Just utterly stupid and I'll never waste a drive down to see anything they put on.

Went to see Exile perform December 19 at the Franklin Theatre. Saw Santa in the audience and had my picture taken with him. This is a small venue with not a bad seat in the house. They do get a lot of popular performers there. I have seen Exile there last Feb. also and have seen Mike Nesmith there twice. Great pizza. Comfortable seating and good sound system. A fun place for evening entertainment. This is located in the middle of downtown Franklin and there is parking (we parked for free) behind the businesses.

Franklin Theater is a treasure. There is not a bad seat in the house. The live shows include well known as well as up and coming performers. Close to good restaurants, which makes it a great place for a “date” night.

We have gone to many movies here. Great throwback theatre that was restored in the last decade. Picture and sound are good. Services alcohol and prices are reasonable. K

Despite all the difficulties from a power outage at the beginning to the concert, the staff and Lynda Carter made the concert one I will always remember as one of the best!

Thanks so much for the review and, indeed, Linda Carter is amazing and we're delighted the evening made for a very memorable experience. Hope you'll come again soon!

There isn't a bad seat in the house and the acoustics were great. The floor is sloped like the old theaters. The only problem is when someone spills a drink, it rolls down and gets everything wet that is sitting on the floor. The staff was very nice and accommodating. There is a concession stand with a few snacks, so eat before you come. The small size made for an enjoyable concert.

Thanks so much for your kind review and we're so sorry if a drink was spilled that took anything away from the experience. (We don't expect patrons to sit on the floor, of course, and work to keep the venue very clean). Hope you'll be back again soon!

My husband and I went to one of your shows on a Friday night. We would have loved having dinner there after the show, but we couldn’t find a restaurant open after 9 or 10pm. Has that changed?

Thanks so much for the question. While we only offer concessions and bar services here at the Franklin Theatre...there are several full service restaurants along Main Street within a block or two which stay open until 11 PM on Fridays and Saturdays...and 10 PM on most other nights. On your next visit, feel free to inquire with our box office or other staff on duty and we can offer suggestions. Hope to see you again soon!
What are the seats like in the 'N' section of the classic area? The last row, right next to the sound area. There is a magic show and those and row K are the only rows left with enough seats (there are some in the last balcony row)

It's pretty small but I always try to get closer to the stage. K sounds like the perfect option to me!
What concerts or plays will be at your theater and on what dates?

Looking at their calendar Lee Roy Parnell, Christopher Cross, Gary Morris, Black Lillies and Second City, the comedy is appearing as well, they also show movies and host special events. A lot of fun and with a great sound system and it's beautiful. They serve Adult beverages with some food.

How far is the hotel from the night life downtown? Are cabs easy to get to take us there? How late does the $10.00 shuttle run? Thanks!
Franklin Theatre
Franklin, TN24 contributions
Thanks for the question and hotels around Franklin can be 2+ miles away depending on which you choose. There are a variety near I-65 and in the Cool Springs area. Cabs can be pre-arranged by calling and making reservations, but are not generally stationed in the downtown Franklin area awaiting a pick up. And regarding the $10 shuttle, I'm not sure which you refer to. Feel free to call our box office for additional info (615-538-2076) or the Franklin Visitor Center (615-591-8514). Hope to see you soon!
