About
The Franklin Theatre opened in the summer of 1937 when the marquee first illuminated Main Street. The downtown historic landmark closed in 2007 but reopened as a 300 seat venue in 2011 with an investment of more than $8.5 million to again entertain, enrich, inspire and connect our community. It still features classic and recent release movies, community and private events - but most exciting are the live concerts by diverse original talents such as Sheryl Crow, Art Garfunkel, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Vince Gill, Keb Mo and many more. From blues to bluegrass, country to classical, rock to roots...you'll find an amazing roster of shows in one of the best listening rooms anywhere!

THE WORST EXPERIENCE RUN BY COVID KARENS!
Aug 2021
First time to ever go to this theatre. Drove all the way from Nashville. Got there and these Karens put up a COVID restriction 24 hours before the show to deny unvaccinated people access without a vaccine passport. Only place in all of Knoxville with this restriction, and they did this 24 hours before the event. No vaccine? No entry and No refund! So be prepared to show up there and show their Gestopo your papers, cuz you aint getting in! U of T won't even have these restrictions for their 100,000 stadium. The bars downtime don't even have these restrictions. Just utterly stupid and I'll never waste a drive down to see anything they put on.

Awesome concert, venue was excellent as usual. Took my 15 year old granddaughter and wasn't sure she would like it, but she loved it and is even more excited about her own music now.

Amazing group to see, and we attend The Franklin Theatre at least 4-5 times per year.

Historic Charm / Great Acoustics
Dec 2019
We visited for the awesome show of Lee Roy Parnell and Friends - including the beautiful Ms. Lisa Stewart and the incredible guitarists Seth James and Anson Funderburgh. These guys put on a helluva show.

Lots of historic charm as Franklin theater was originally built in the 1930's, fell into disrepair in the 00's and eventually went through a big-budget renovation and restoration.

Incredible sound and lighting system, comfortable seats and an overall great feel to the place. Loved the easy bar and concessions service.

A great place to see a live show.

Great place to see some of your favorite stars--Exile
Dec 2019
Went to see Exile perform December 19 at the Franklin Theatre. Saw Santa in the audience and had my picture taken with him. This is a small venue with not a bad seat in the house. They do get a lot of popular performers there. I have seen Exile there last Feb. also and have seen Mike Nesmith there twice. Great pizza. Comfortable seating and good sound system. A fun place for evening entertainment. This is located in the middle of downtown Franklin and there is parking (we parked for free) behind the businesses.

Great venue for music ... awesome restoration
Nov 2019
What a special place. They've done an amazing restoration of this old theater. So glad it was saved. It has a wonderful, warm and welcoming atmosphere. The seats are spacious and comfortable. They offer a bar on both the main level and on the balcony level, with fair prices ($8 for a glass of wine). There's really not a bad seat in the house. Look forward to going again!

Always a delightful treat!

Whether I am here for a movie or a musical event, I enjoy the venue and the event. The retro movie feel is very fun, especially when you are watching older movies. All the seats are excellent. Their snack and beverage options are good. This is a renovated gem to be enjoyed. Movies never fill up so go at the last minute if you want. The musical events often fill up so if you want to see those, get your tickets early.

I’m here at least once weekly. Great place.

This is a small venue that seats slightly over 300. There are 48 cabaret seats in front of the stage that are a little pricier tickets, but I think it’s worth it. All seats are great. Sound and view are excellent everywhere. If I can’t get cabaret, I enjoy the balcony. If a show that you are interested in is sold out, get on the wait list as the theater always helps resell tickets for patrons that can’t make a show. Also, if handicap accessible seats aren’t sold within a few days of a show you can buy these. They are on the back row and have comfortable chairs and more room than anywhere else in the theater. Concessions are priced similar to chain movie theaters. $8 for large popcorn with free refills, $3 pizza slice and I think beer and wine is about $5. All Price’s include tax. They sell a signature candy bar for $6 that is delicious and you can use the wrapper for a free admission to a movie there. I read someone complained about parking. Franklin is one of the few places I know of with loads of free parking. The garages on 2nd and 4th are both free and a very short walk to the theater. There are several great places to eat in walking distance but each deserves their own review. The employees at FT must love their jobs because they always seem so friendly and happy to be there. They book concerts from amazing performers of every genre, comedy shows, youth plays and of course, movies. Don’t hesitate to attend a show here. It doesn’t get any better.

We have gone to many movies here. Great throwback theatre that was restored in the last decade. Picture and sound are good. Services alcohol and prices are reasonable. K
