If you get a chance, stop down at the bottom of the damn so you can see the Great Blue Heron and Night Heron. There are also lots of turkey vultures and an Eagle or two.

Been here many times. We picnic here, walk around the dam. Beautiful view from the top. Sit by the dam and watch the birds by the water. If you're lucky, the dam will open to let the water out. Cool site to see. There's a...More

Very scenic drive to this TVA Dam. Especially interesting for children. Can be viewed both from scenic overlook and at base.

The view from the overlook is peaceful and shows the lake and mountains of the area. My favorite reason to go is the abundance of birds that are near the tail water side of the dam. Heron and Egret nest along the river and feed...More

We crossed the dam a couple of times providing us great views of both the lake and the river on the other side. The dam itself, though historical as part of the TVA, doesn’t have any outstanding features other than the view and the history.

We did see people fishing. There's a parking lot and a nice shore, with grassy area and sidewalks, as well as some picnic tables.
