Huge, beautiful man-made lake in eastern Tennessee. Lots of boating opportunities and campgrounds. Quiet area close to craziness of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

This lake is beautiful with the backdrop of the Smokey Mountains. We found this by following signs to the Douglas Dam. From there we drove through some small towns around the lake, enjoying the view. When we return to Tennessee, we will plan to spend...More

We came here to visit with friends at the Rowdy Dog Farm in Dandridge. Our hosts Susie and Lloyd took us out on the lake. The water was warm and the lake was incredible. There were very few boats and many small fish swimming around.

We've been to a few lakes but this one is the best. Clear water for a lake ..no " lake smell " and no trash! Big and beautiful views ☺

My parents live on Douglas Lake so we get to see it often. It truly is an awesome place. Rent a boat, or bring your paddleboards or kayak and explore the beauty of Tennessee

We rented a pontoon boat from Douglas Lake Marina for four hours. Very affordable! We did not have much luck fishing, but the kids loved swimming and riding on the tube. The lake is gorgeous, lots of nooks and crannies to visit, awesome rock structures...More

We rented a pontoon for 1/2 day. Had a blast. Never considered this before when going to the smokies. Our entire family had a great day of fishing. We had time to do this and then go to Gatlinburg for dinner. I will do this...More

Wonderful lake for kayaking. A lot of pontoon boats and we heard it was great for fishing. We used the lake from Anchor Down RV resort.

The Tennessee Valley Authority, created this lake in the 1930's primarily for flood control, and hydroelectric power generation. The lake is drawn down before and after the summer season, to be ready to catch rain and snow melt, and prevent the seasonal flooding, that so...More

Lake was down in October and boating was limited. Heard others say everything goes in spring through fall.

I have not been there in April to know. I would contact the Tennessee Valley Authority and they should be able to answer your questions. Have a good trip

Douglas Lake Fishing (2 Replies)
Need advice from deadhead & lighthouselover - any feedback on fishing at Douglas Lake? Is shore fishing available or is there a marina to rent a boat? We spend a week at Carp Lake every Sept and just wondered about the other lakes in the area. We do not have our own boat so renting or shore fishing are our only options. thanks

Hey Skeems, Shore fishing won't really be an option on Douglas as it's pretty shallow and mostly sandy up to the shore. There are no marinas on Douglas, and nowhere I know of on the lake that rents boats. I know Paradise Lake Marina rents 14' fishing boats with 8 horse motors for $50/day but don't have trailers. If you have a truck or SUV or something, maybe you could take the boat over to Douglas with or without the motor. Windjammer Marina (231-347-6103) on Crooked Lake will...More
