Visited the passage this past weekend and the memorial was amazing. The details put into it and care by the design team did not disappoint. If you are in the area check it out or if you are into history stop by. You could spend 10 minutes or2 hours depending on how hot it is out.

This was the last hurrah for my 1 year anniversary and I found this searching for things to do. We ended up being lucky and not a sole was around. Made for beautiful photos. I think it is worth it specially if you're already in town for the aquarium! Absolutely beautiful and yes I did walk from the top straight down to the end.

I had the scariest experience here. IN almost exactly LA fashion, a homeless man jumped me while I was walking up these steps. And I mean, like literally jumped. It scared me. I fell down every stair. I would recommend to all ages. Stairs hurt tho. awefdsgrkl

Since we were here in late November the water feature was drained and not working. Our family members are members of the Cherokee Nation so it had special meaning for our family. Everyone should visit this area.

watched kids playing in the water, throwing a ball then waiting for it to flow down. Safe for little ones if they are good on their feet

It’s a great area to take a little break and let the kids play in the water and pay homage to the Cherokee’s that taken from their land.

The Passage is a stairway waterfall and weeping wall built to remind us of the tears of the seven Cherokee clans that were forced to relocate from the Chattanooga area to the west on what became known as the Trail of Tears. Unfortunately, it is easy to miss the historic significance behind this spot and just concentrate on the fun of kids splashing around on a warm day. (And it is fun!) More signage might help. Occasional educational spokespeople would also be great - maybe tied in with the aquarium as a little extra paid on the admission ticket or by some local volunteers for free.

The Passage was beautiful, peaceful and informational. At the same time, the story behind the tribute to the "Trail of Tears" impacted me to the point that I couldn't help but shed a few tears. It is an amazing tribute to the people that were unjustly removed from their land and all those that died. It was a shameful time in American history. It was history that should never be forgotten least it be repeated again.

There is no question, that there is not ever anything that can be erected, stated, or implemented to undue the wrongs that this country has done to the Native Americans, but the Passage is to be commended for highlighting the Trails of Tears.

Great place to relax, destress and honor the Cherokee....so walk through, even if you do not take in the Aquarium.
