About
There's no better way to enjoy the Scenic City than by SUP, the world's fastest growing watersport, or by kayaking our beautiful riverfront! SUP (Standup Paddle Boarding) is enjoyed as much on the flat waters of East Tennessee as on surf. It's surprisingly easy to learn, offers a great full body workout, and is fun for all ages and ability levels. We offer rentals, lessons, Sunset Tours and various group options for both SUP and kayak. Get on the water with us and enjoy one of the most unique ways to experience downtown Chattanooga! L2 Outside also offers the largest selection of longboards in the Chattanooga area. We are conveniently located across from the Aquarium in downtown Chattanooga.

Wife and daughter opted to spend afternoon in hotel. My son and I google paddle boarding and this place was 5 mins away. They had a stand under the bridge, the staff (2 guys) were really friendly, we asked if our parking spot required us to pay, he stated it was “$free.99” which my son and I thought it was funny (guess we found 1 of the few free spots). We could have paid at the stand but they suggested we pay at the office, a 3 min walk as it was a little more convenient. Paying at the office was quick and easy and for the price $25 for 1 hour or $35 for 2 which we thought it was a great deal. (you can pay for 2hrs and if you only do 1hr, they will refund your money but she stated you have to be back in exactly 1hr or less which makes sense) We bought 2 Powerades which were fairly priced and headed back out to the stand. They walked us down, told us where to go and we paddled to a small island and swam in the river for an hour or so, explored a little and made it back in about 1hr and 45mins. This was a great activity for a hot day in Chattanooga.

My wife and I were shopping for paddle boards, so stopped in at l2 outside. We were met by very friendly owners Steve and Deb, and decided that we would enjoy the evening sunset tour to test out the paddle boards on the Chattanooga River. What a joy! Steve was great at helping us think through paddle board options. He was very honest and helped us think about things that would work for our interest. No hard sale. They had a good selection of Bote cardboard and inflated paddle boards and docks and accessories. We really enjoyed talking with them about the area. They are great people! The sunset tour with Lynn was superb! We are beginners at paddle boarding, but everyone we dealt with were super supportive and instructive. Before we came back in we were both standing and paddling and had had a wonderful time. The weather was beautiful and the sunset was gorgeous. We look forward to visiting them again.

We had so much {EXHAUSTING} fun!
We went Paddle Boarding for the first time and it was a great experience!
L2 Outside crew is so laid back and accommodating. We were running behind and they were gracious to move our appt an hour later.
They were very clear in their instructions and communications and very helpful down at the water. The boards are soo stable!
If it's your first time, I definitely recommend water shoes or tough sandals due to the rocky shores. And get the waterproof protector bags for your phones. Kept them dry and still took great pics.
We parked in the $6 lot literally behind L2 Outside and changed in the car afterward. (They are walking distance to multiple restaurants and beautiful Coolidge Park.) We walked from the parking lot to Taconooga for dinner and stopped by StoneCup for some great coffee drinks after dinner and just strolled through the park on our way back to the car.
Very nice atmosphere and fun experience. I would certainly do it again.

Great experience with L2 Outside for 2 kayak rentals! Took off one star because we had to carry our gear down to the river because they were short staffed, not a HUGE deal, but I do have a bad back so it was harder than it probably would be if you have no chronic pain issues. Would definitely recommend reserving in advance as they said if we hadn't done that, there would have been no way to rent since they got booked up within an hour of opening that day (granted it was Labor Day, but still better early than not)! All gear was in great shape, and the staff member setting us up gave us great directions on where to go first to make sure we got the most of our time and had an easier time getting back to the ramp to exit the river. Would definitely return for a rental with L2!

Had a WONDERFUL fun time kayaking with Lynn as the guide on her SUP! Great info about the area. Gorgeous pictures of the sunset over Lookout Mountain.
Great experience with folks to carry the kayaks down to the water & push us off. They even allowed us into their shop after hours since we accidentally got soaked when a speedboat wake swamped our kayaks & soaked us. Let us change clothes & get warm & dry.
Fantastic, sweet people & a great time overall!

I’ve been to Chattanooga a couple times and this has been the highlight of both those trips. I am an experienced mangrove and open water kayaker. This went beyond my expectations. The trip to island was a great unexpected excursion. There are some cool little trails out there. And a picnic table with a fire pit! There is a small bluff you could climb and jump off of. I did not as I did not see any place to creatively tie off and I had no one with me to hold my yak. Be sure to head over to the abandoned yacht and also check out the caves and caverns. Fun stuff.

The staff is amazing! Kat was at the store and answered all my questions. Also, on the webpage it said I could sign up for an extra hour, but I could not do that when booking. Kat took care of that easy-peezy. Jacob was waiting for me at the water with my yak and was super chill and friendly. Very easy to talk to. He gave me great advice on what to see and do while on the water. And he pointed out a trash can close by when I returned with a good handful of trash floating in the river. Spencer was at the store when I was done. He too, was chill and easy to talk to.

They do have cool hats and shirts to buy. I got a hat. Some suggestions, take water. At least two bottles of your doing two hours. Maybe bring a snack, like a granola bar. It’s a calm trip, but will still zap some energy. Take your paddle with you on the island and walk with it out in front of you. Lots of cobwebs. Sign up on line and do the course and legal stuff on line. It’s just a seven minute video and a few boxes to check.

Highly recommend this activity. There is more to do than you see by just walking over on the bridge. I would for sure do this again.

The whole process from checking in to collecting equipment then to getting on the water was seamless and the whole team there are just great; very friendly and helpful. The route we did - across to the island and then boarding around the island - was spectacular and we loved every minute. Really glad we did our paddle boarding with L2 as it was one of the highlights of our visit.

Terrific way to see Chattanooga! Website makes it easy to reserve a paddle board or kayak. Informative and well done safety video before you head out on the water. The water “gurus” were helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend a water tight pack for your cell phone. Tuesday is 1/2 price day and a great value.

I rented a SUP from L2 - and it was super easy. On the weekends the boards are already by the river and you visit their store, a 7 minute walk away to watch a safety video and fill out the required paperwork. The staff were super-nice and helpful! I recommend this to anyone who wants to get out on the river.

We had waaaaay too much fun on our kayak trip! We booked our kayaks online ahead of time. check in was a breeze. There is a short informational video you watch. they give you instructions on the safe areas to go. I showed up in a wheel chair and was treated no differently because of it. They offered to help me get into the kayak, but were cool to let me do it on my own when I said I was all good. The guys that worked there stay by the ramp, so my wheelchair was safely waiting for my return. My brother was in a double kayak with me, while my husband was on his on. We all had a blast, probably the most memorable part of our trip.
