Did you know The designation of DUKW is not a military pun - the name comes from the terminology used for military vehicles in World War II; the D indicates a vehicle designed in 1942, the U meant "utility (amphibious)", the K indicated all-wheel drive and the W indicated two powered rear axles.

Although technically a misnomer, DUKWs are often referred to as duck boats. Another popular nickname was old magoo or simply magoo. Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle.

DUKWs became known as ''Ducks'' and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities.

A fantastic time! Great location in Chattanooga. Parking right across the street is only $6.00 for the entire day. We started our day trip to Chattanooga on the Ducks. Our guide Dave aka Splash was a lot of fun! Very knowledgeable about the history of Tennessee. Very scenic trip as well. The voyage is an hour long. Great length. After... More

We took the tour for my husbands birthday. We are new to Chattanooga so we thought we might learn something new and boy, we were schooled! The tour guide was amazing, his knowledge of the area and its history made it so much more than just a splash in the river. He made it fun for the kids on the... More

The must do tour. Great attraction and lots of fun. Driver told lots of history about the area that you probably wouldnt read. The Trail of Tears history should be taught in schools.

We visited Chattanooga last weekend and the Duck was one of the highlights to the trip. The tour is about an hour and is mostly on water. Our guide was terrific. Very funny and quite informative. We highly recommend this tour. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😊

Chattanooga Duck Tour was a blast. The best way to see the city of Chattanooga from both land and water. These vehicle/boats are so much fun. Our tour guide was very informative and we learned so much. Seeing the city from the Tennessee River is absolutely beautiful.

This was our first duck tour, and we found it to be very interesting. It started out on land in downtown Chattanooga, and then continued on to the Tennessee River. Our tour guide, Rob, did a great job explaining the history of the city. Our grandchildren were with us, and he let them, and other children on the tour drive... More

First time on a duck and it was fun. The best part is when the vehicle goes from land to water. Sailing on the river was wonderful and each child got to "drive" the boat adding to their experience. Unique tour and worth going on for both young and old.

We have taken several Duck Tours and always enjoy them. This one was no exception. Our guide/driver/captain, Dave, was excellent. Our tour of the city took about an hour. Dave provided us both historical and hysterical facts of this great city. The Duck vehicle travels on land and water (in case you were not sure) so you see the city... More

Rob was a fantastic tour guide, good stories, super information and great knowledge of Chattanooga and the area. Will suggest all family members to do this in April, when here for a wedding. Suggest calling ahead for a reservation. Thank you.

What a fun unique tour of the city. Guide was great and even let all the younger kids drive the duck on the water for a bit. Super informative but made it fun. Found a coupon on Living Social which made the experience even better :)
