Cordell Hull Lake is a beautiful, peaceful lake that offers lots of access to the water for fishing and boating. You can visit horse trails and overlooks. Salt Lick Campground and Defeated Creek Campground are popular camping spots. Granville Marina will soon have a new restaurant and inn. Wartrace has camping, and there are lots of picnic spots available everywhere.

Good for skiing, and boarding, and for bringing your family or camper there to camp .You will find people you know and your kids can walk to get ice-cream at the dock. They love that part.
Most people around Hartsville go Memorial day, 4th of July and Labor day. Good place for kids.

Camping at the Defeated Creek campground was awesome. Such great campsites. The first loop has some sites on the water that are so spread out it feels pretty private.
The marina is smallish but the people there are fun and inviting. Looks like a good place to put in a boat. The kids enjoyed the playgrounds and the place has wonderful roadways for biking. Sites 101-110 have water views and sewer hookups.
We will be back. Good times.

On a wonderful autumn day, we had a beautiful auto tour around the lake. Great wildlife viewing, great scenery. Thank you

My kids and I love to watch the wildlife here. We also love to swim at the lake during the summer months. It is much cheaper than going to the city pool, because here it is only $5 per car. You can take a picnic basket or a cooler and make a day of it, which is what we usually do. Plus, just up the road are two different playgrounds, two covered shelters that you can use when open or reserve for events, two separate bathroom facilities, a tennis court, a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a scenic nature walking trail. The campgrounds are also just up the road. I very highly recommend!

Times change; there was the occasion/time where one could Hillbilly fish at the base of the dam for Sauger, Walleye, Catfish and Rock Fish but, alas no more. Homeland Security has killed that.... When ISIS knocks off the Cordell Hull Reservoir, I guess the fight is over.... One must be very adapt to navigate the Cumberland River/Cordell Hull Lake/Reservoir. The waters are full of dead float logs, and large buoyant flotsam & jetsam. You can only water ski and tube at the inlet marinas with any kind of safety. The river does abound in wildlife and, there is great fishing all the way to Kentucky and up the Obey River to Dale Hollow Lake. There is camping/RVing with the Army Corps sites that have all of the Mobile-Suburbia amenities...You must be patient, you are way into the Upper-Cumberland where life is slow and ancient... The Scots-Irish abound....
