As stated, it is a 1.5 mile easy walk to the falls (and then back). With that in mind, it did take us 1.5 hours to walk there and back (stopping only a few minutes to marvel the falls.) We walked at a normal walking pace. The bathrooms were closed at the start of the falls (for the winter) the over flow porta-potty type bathrooms were open in the same general area. Take a minute to look at the map. It will tell you to follow blue paint markings on trees along the path. It would have been easier with signs saying Benton Falls and arrows (like other areas pointed out along the trail), but it doesn’t. It was approximately a 30 minute drive up to the parking for the falls (from the entrance). The drive is breathtaking with beautiful vistas and photo opportunities. It did cost $3 to park. There were lots of families with little children walking. I saw people bring walking sticks, water, etc., which is a good idea. The information does talk about being aware of your surroundings, bears, snakes, etc., but we saw nothing. The falls are absolutely beautiful and the event was fun. Just knowing it takes at least 3 hours to enjoy the whole event.

Fairly busy area well kept and clean. Made the hike to the Falls. The trail was rather muddy in places due to the recent rains, but the Falls were full and beautiful. The hike is easy up to the Falls area. There are some steps down and uneven terrain to get to the water. I would say it is moderate. Not a trail that you want to take a stroller on though. Lots of large rocks in the walking path and washout ditches in other areas. Was fortunate to see the copperhead snake in the weeds before I stepped on it.

The hike is about 1.5 miles to the falls from the parking area. The trail is very easy until you descend to the bottom of the falls or back up from the falls. It is still do-able for most ages, and it is worth the hike. If you want to cool off, at the bottom of the falls is a nice ledge to sit on if you want to be drenched in the cold water. Otherwise, it is a beautiful place to sit and relax. Great place!

The hike is about 3 miles round trip from the beach area. It’s a pretty easy hike. I only had trouble going down the steps because I have bad knees. Once you get there there’s a few large rocks that you can sit on and enjoy the view. If the weather is warm you can walk to the falls and get wet.

As the title says, this is an easy hike, and the falls are spectacular. Well maintained trail takes only about 30-40 minutes each way. We got caught in a downpour, but that did not lessen the impact of the spectacular Benton Falls. Highly recommended!

It was a fairly easy walk, unless u r out of shape (like me) &/or smoker (like me). I did not go all the way to the falls as I knew my hip and knees would not allow me back up to the path. I stood at top of falls, but was too afraid to get close to edge and look down. The bathrooms were locked, as were the ones in the campground. Campground seemed nice but nary a camper--not sure why. Nice secluded campsites. We did not camp, but may in future. Was a small lake for swimming near parking lot. Other than the BR being closed, park was very well maintained. Many pull offs for pictures, beautiful views of Ocoee River and surrounding area. Worth the trip

The GPS will take you on a very steep, dangerous gravel road. Instead follow 64 to Oswald, which is a paved road with some nice outlooks. The trail to the falls is not marked very well, just be sure to follow the blue trail. Once you get to the top of the falls it's very step to get top the bottom.

Hiked this beautiful trail and loved it! We thought the hike was fairly easy, pretty flat until the end. The hike is beautiful, lots of photo ops. We packed a lunch and had a picnic at the falls. The trailhead had plenty of parking and restrooms. There was a $3 fee, but it’s well worth it. Don’t miss this jewel!

I looked all over for directions, and most web sites say take Forest Service Road 77 off of highway 64, but I could never find that on my iPhone maps. Forest Service Road 77 is labeled Oswald Dome Road on maps. Just FYI.
As others note, there is approximately 7 miles up this paved winding mountain road to the recreation area and there are several lovely overlooks. At the top you will need $3 cash to use the area. There are plumbed restrooms, picnic areas, camp sites, showers and a small lake with a beach area. There were a good many people using the area on an August Saturday.
The Benton Falls Trail is the main trail, it is easily walked until the last 1/10 of the way, with some scrambling on rock stairs required to the falls themselves. There was tons of water flowing over the falls today, it is quite beautiful, and a great thing to see!

Worth the hike. It’s a little over 3 miles round trip. The final 100yds or so down to the falls has some steps to be cautious of when wet or mossy but manageable. Refreshing feeling with the spray of the falls and cool air.

How long would you say the hike takes - total time? We are trying to determine if we have enough time to add this to our itinerary when we are there in a month. Thank you!

If I remember correctly, it took me about 4 hours total. I was taking my time too.

Would you be able to make it to the trail in a lower car? Is there and deep creeks?
Written April 2, 2017
yes but watch out when I use GPS to get me there it took me up this really steep dirt road. when I left it found there to be a nice paved road all the way up the mountain. the road started in the river valley below off the Interstate. it was a nice little hike.
