Wounded Knee Museum will be closed for the 2016 season.

After the fire in September 2012, The Wounded Knee Museum exhibits were reconstructed and displayed at a temporary location, but will be returning to their original location in Wall, South Dakota with an expected opening date of May 2017. We will be expanding our displays and exhibits. The Wounded Knee Museum opened in 2003 to share the events leading to the massacre at Wounded Knee in 1890.

We appreciate your continued support, understanding and prayers during this transition of rebuilding. We look forward to seeing you in 2017!

This museum had relocated to downtown (near Wall Drug) but was closed because of a fire. They need to make this apparent somewhere because we had no idea!

I thought I knew the history of Wounded Knee until I saw this museum. Very powerful displays. A short walk from the Wall Drug fun. Highly recommeded.

Closed till 2017. Need to post that clearly on the website. Home school family of five stayed in Wall to ensure our kids learned of the tragedy that occurred. We were sad to see that it was closed. Turned stop from educational to novelty with Wall Drug store.

This is small museum but gets across the important message what happen at Wounded Knee and the historical events leading up to it. A short video starts off the tour and then you walk along a path that tells the story in good detail with photo exhibits. If you’re on limited time, each exhibit has “in brief” explanation as well.... More
