My wife called this “The Greatest Tourist Trap she’d ever seen.” I’m inclined to be more generous. I will give it the title of “Tourist Trap,” but it has always been a “Tourist Trap” from the beginning, offering “free ice water” in the early days to attract customers. Wall Drugs was a case study from one of my MBA classes, so I had to stop. It makes for great people-watching. My wife also threw out some comment about fools and their money, but I had stopped listening at this point. There’s pretty much the same merchandise in every shop, except for branded “Wall, SD”; there is nothing that can’t be found in every other tourist stop or on Amazon. Be prepared for massive crowds, clogged, smoke-choked sidewalks in an area that covers two blocks. We ate in the on-site café and had buffalo burgers. We weren’t impressed (Our Ted’s in Atlanta makes a better buffalo burger, and it is cheaper also). If you are not pressed for time, I still recommend this stop.

This was a pretty cool stop with lots to see, do and experience. Fun photo opportunities plus lots of awesome souvenirs and different shops, as well as snacks and beverages. We could have even spent more time exploring.

I remember visiting as a kid, and many of the same stores and attractions are still there, but expanded. This is definitely a tourist trap, but there are plenty of amusing sights in addition to the gift shops and restaurants. We got our pictures with the jackelope, and saw the T-Rex, peeked into the chapel, and perused the cowboy boots. It’s a fun stop if you like touristy things.

We visited Wall Drug on our trip to the Badlands. Didn’t know quite what to expect but we were not disappointed! It was a really fun part of our trip. Even got some holiday shopping in..lots of different shops and history with a legacy. Really nice staff, too.

I had a blast here. They have a really cool wall of old photographs in their building in the back. I thought the back yard area was cute and fun for kids. I liked the western boot & gear store. And I enjoyed the big dinosaur. We did have a meal here as well. I hear some people call it a tourist trap, but they miss the point. If you are a kid at heart, it is a lot of fun and it is free. They even still give you the free water.

After seeing the Wall Drug signs for so many miles, I figured I had to stop in after visiting Badlands Nat'l Park. I didn't take advantage of the 5 cent coffee, but I did get some free water while there. It does have an ice cream parlor, a number of tourist shops, and arcade, and plenty of things to entertain people. I found it to be too touristy though, and left pretty quickly after arriving.

We stopped here after visiting Badland National Park (see separate review) since we had spare time and went right by it. We enjoyed looking around here; there are many nice shops selling gifts, crafts, books, décor, apparel, snacks, etc. It is a very convenient place to stop for a bathroom break after visiting Badlands National Park but not something to go out of your way to see.

Wall Drug is basically a mall of touristy stores. Souvenirs, pottery, clothing, books, candy, food, paintings, leather goods, travel necessities, etc. They did have a lot of pretty cool items that my friends and I enjoyed and/or purchased. Would recommend if you are visiting the Badlands and want a cool souvenir or two.

On a day tour to the Badlands, we had lunch at Wall Drug, where I enjoyed a bison burger. Wall Drug is a huge store that has museum exhibits as well as merchandise for sale. See the animatronic T-Rex and the frontier exhibits. Browse the touristy merchandise. It's worth a stop.

The place is huge. The 4 cafes can seat 503 persons. My veggie burger was awful but the fries were good. While there we were able to purchase postcards, a magnet and bunion pads,, all for $8. That made the visit worthwhile.
