We were on a search for cooler weather and a break form the heat and decided to take a road trip north and the weather was perfect and so was the location. We were greeted by the owner as we entered the building and he gave us the rundown on the location. We were then assisted at the bar and I love how they used an antique bar in the location. We tried several wines and decided on a glass of the Tickled Pink with a nice touch of a Strawberry on top. We also ordered the Charcuterie Board and it was delivered as we sat on the patio and listened to the rain on the steel roof and enjoyed the views and the wonderful weather! When we were ready to leave we purchased some wines and a bottle of Brandy. We are looking forward to come back for a night at the bed and Breakfast and to explore the area.

We showed up without a reservation or tour set up on a Friday evening and had the chance to try all of their signature wines, and even tour the cellar where the wine is produced. It was very cool to hear about the very first winery of South Dakota. We ended up choosing the Edelweiss wine, "Rushmore White." The building also serves as a bed and breakfast, but we only visited for the wine tasting.

Nice, well-kept facility. The server was friendly and engaging. The wines we tasted were very good. My wife and I enjoy visiting vineyards and wineries. It's marvelous that good wines can be found in places like South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska. You don't have to go to Napa to enjoy.

The wine is not CA level, but its ok for small batch. Price point high teens. We had dinner in upstairs room in a family setting. Food was excellent and service was friendly.

The B&B looks ok. The grounds have a nice grass area that would work for family or group gatherings.

Over 10 different wines of theirs to sample (mostly complimentary). Also offered are a few spirits they are now distilling. Some samples require a $5 fee, that is waived if you purchase a bottle of the variety you sampled. The views from the outside decks are beautiful. I could see a nice wedding or anniversary party here.

We visited on an early Monday afternoon. They were not busy. We did not arrange for a tour ahead of time, so we did not see the area in which they make the wine. We were able to taste many different wines they make. We chose a pricey one that was made from local wild grapes that the owner found by the river. But they have reasonable choices. We were allowed to explore the rooms and the balconies. Very nice. May stay there next time we are in Vermillion. The bartender was very helpful and knowledgeable about the wines.
