These are the tallest falls in the area. During the peak of summer, the water is sparse and the falls slide down a rocky face. This was not my favorite stop as there is limited parking. The parking is also across the street from the water, making access somewhat dangerous. There is one viewing platform that does not highlight the cascade very well. Everyone capable crawls down a rocky and somewhat dangerous bank for a closer look and a water experience. Knowing that people are constantly scaling the bank, it would seem that the park administration would make an official and legitimate access point to avoid possible accidents.

I’ve always heard about these falls so I made my kid and husband go in the canyon to see them. It’s safe to say I was so disappointed. It’s just water on rocks on the side of the road. You stand on a platform and there they are. There are better waterfalls down the road and definitely better falls where we camped last year. Maybe my expectations were too high??

This is the one waterfall on scenic byway 14A on the northern end.

Be sure to go down the trail to the right of the platform, cross Spearfish Creek, and see the bottom of the waterfall. There has already been laid steady logs and rocks to allow you to cross and stay dry.

It was a beautiful day for a hike and Bridal Veil Falls was our destination. Although the falls were far from cascading, the beauty of the area made the hike well worth it. I highly recommend doing it!

The waterfall wasn’t super impressive because it’s fall and there has been a bit of a drought. I would guess in spring and early summer, especially after a rain, would be much more impressive. However, it was a beautiful area and there is a lot of wildlife. We saw deer and got lucky when a momma longhorn sheep & her baby decided to have a little snack by the falls, so we got a nice view of them. It was a nice stop.

Average trip. We arrived at approximately 12:30 pm and parked our car directly across from the scenic overlook. The parking lot was on the bigger side, and had plenty of spaces to choose from. We walked across the road where there was an observation deck. There were two informational plaques that detailed the history of the falls and the various forms of wildlife found in the area. The falls themselves were disappointing. The waterfall was partially obstructed by the trees and there was only a small trickle of water flowing down when we went.

Tip: I recommend spending 10 minutes here if you truly want to see everything.

The pull off to park along the side of road was busy, so watch yourself while crossing to get to lookout side of the falls. You can cross the small creek and get up close if you go down the dirt paths to the creek. Then cross the creek to falls. We saw mountain goats along the side of the creek which was great. Worth a stop!

Being September with little rain in the area for a while, the Falls were not as pretty as they could have been. I'm sure in the spring with snow melt it truly looks like a bridsle veil. It had a fair amount of parking across the street. But what it did have was mother mountain goat with it's kid. The surrounding terrain is also picturesque so it's worthy of a look.

Not much to see. Apparently low water volume when we were there. Located along the highway with pull off available. Nice to stop on your way to Spearfish, but I wouldn't make a special trip for the falls.

These are lovely waterfalls easily seen from the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway. You can actually see them from the road, but there is a large parking area, so you can stop to take pictures or hike closer. I highly recommend a stop.
