Beautiful scenery and great hiking. We hiked to Spearfish waterfalls. If you do the drive through the canyon, there are a few spots to hike but not many. The scenery was specular. We then walked back up and there is a cafe where we had lunch. Food was decent - we sat on the patio and enjoyed the view. When you start the drive again, be careful if you want to go to Bridal Falls, because you can pass it quickly and it is too hard to make a u-turn. There is only a small place to park.…

We decided to drive the Spearfish canyon road in December. It was absolutely gorgeous in the winter. We stopped at Bridal Veil falls and hiked down to the bottom. The rocks were very slippery with the ice and snow, caution is needed. It was gorgeous seeing the frozen waterfall. We also took the short hike down to Spearfish Falls to view the waterfall from the bottom. It wasn’t too hard and the walk was so pretty in the snow. We didn’t attempt the hike to Roughlock falls, as the road was closed up to the falls and we didn’t know if the trail was visible all the way to the falls. Can’t wait to go back in the summer and see it again.…

Beautiful place! I wish we would of had more time to explore. We did get to see mountain goats on our way to one of the waterfalls.

The canyon is a beautiful drive and is full of many great short hikes to waterfalls like Roughlock and Spearfish falls. The hike to the Devils Bathtub was a lot of fun if you like crossing a creek a dozen times to the pool where you can swim. You can spend all day exploring the Canyon or just drive through in under an hour. Either way it is worth the time to detour to the Canyon.…
