A continuous concrete curb outlines the size and shape of the battleship South Dakota. Within the outline are some cut-off barrel stubs in concrete, a radar antenna, anchor with chain, the ship main mast and a large brass propeller. All these and a small museum building, have been there for years. A fairly new addition is a complete actual 16... More

I have been by here many times, but never seemed to have the time to stop. Decided to stop in for a few minutes. The displays and staff did a great job giving me a snapshot of the ships history and importance. If you get a chance, stop in.

I've visited the U.S.S. North Carolina, U.S.S. Alabama, and the U.S.S. Missouri. So to be able and visit this little attraction was a nice surprise. They have some interesting things to see. Worth a stop, won't take nearly as long to view it, as it takes to walk a large ship.

Not sure what we were expecting, but sure it wasn't some fabricated battleship in a sea of grass. Might be of interest to young children or those with a flexible interest in naval history.

Loved watching the video then walking around seeing the history behind the ship. South Dakota has amazing parks and museums to enjoy with family.

Had visited here prior, but really took in the museum this time! Being from Alabama, saw that the USS Alabama was with the USS SD after Pearl Harbor. Neat pictures, artifacts, etc to see, plus the ship is outlined on the grounds.

We happened to go see the museum on the day they were celebrating the 75th anniversary of her launch. A band was setting up to play and there were several guest speakers arriving. While in the museum, we overheard several of the former crewman reminiscing about their time aboard. We didn't have time to stay and watch the ceremony so... More

An outline of the actual ship made to scale. We stumbled onto this on our journey to the Falls Park. History buffs that we are we stopped and were welcomed and pleasantly surprised to see a piece of history preserved by those who served and donated their medals, diaries and other memorabilia.
