This memorial does a great job showing and explaining what the USS South Dakota Battleship provided to the World War II efforts. It is the most decorated Battleship of WWII. Everyone should take the time to visit if they are in the area so they can experience for themselves what our service members did for this great country of ours.... More

This is a really interesting landmark. You could almost feel the souls of the crew who once boarded this USS South Dakota. You won't get the true experience unless you stop, get out of your car, walk around, check out the extreme size of the relics, and read the many plaques providing some of the amazing history of this heroic... This is not your classic museum but well worth a stop. It reminds me of a mom & pop museum. It does not have all that high tech of exhibits but is full of photos and mementos of Sailors who served on the battleship. The exhibits were interesting and the curator very knowledgeable. The ship had a great history and... More

We wanted to view yet another different attraction that you do not see everywhere. Our timing was off for visiting while the visitors center was open but cool to see.

We were amazed at the history and the accomplishments of the USS South Dakota. We walked every bit of it and the size of chain and the anchor was unbelievable. Something you should not miss either is the photographs and the history inside. We actually spent a couple of hours inside too!

You might just drive by this memorial, but it is truly fascinating. Go into the museum and watch the 30 min video on the history of the Battleship. We spent almost 2 hours there. Very nice displays and artifacts inside the museum.

I happen to believe in America, what we are and what we have done for the world. Everyone, especially children, should get a good dose of WWII history because this was our greatest generation and depicts a time when America's very best came together and showed the world what bravery, duty, sacrifice and determination could do. You can actually get... More

My team and I stopped here on a whirlwind geocaching dash to the northern states. This memorial caught our eye as we have a friend at work that had a grandpa serve on this ship. Found some nice geocaches nearby and had fun watching a festival in the park that day.

A rather abstract memorial to one of the iron ships of yesterday. It uses some abstract characteristics but pretty cool overall. Only takes a little while to view.

I'm a big military history guy, so I had to make a stop in to see the USS South Dakota Memorial. The building was closed by the time we got there, but I walked all around and got pictures. I like the way that they created the concrete wall in the shape and size of the actual battleship. It gives... More
