The Great Plains Zoo offers visitors an up-close look at more than 1,000 animals, from anteaters to zebras, penguins to porcupines, and including an exciting animal collection often not found in larger zoos: tigers, snow leopards, giraffes, rhinoceros, flamingoes and a variety of primates. The Zoo also includes the Delbridge Museum of Natural History, a local treasure that houses a rare, one-in-the-world collection of 150 mounted animals, including 36 “vanishing species”.

This zoo is good for a small city zoo. There is quite a variety of animals. The animals were taken care of and, for the most part, were content with their surroundings; however, some seemed "unhappy" because of their constant pacing. It is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon for adults and children. It is a lot... More

This zoo just keeps getting bigger and better, it is clean and well kept, animals look good, they add new animals on a regular basis. I recommend going here on a regular basis, and watch for all their special events going on.

This is a great zoo if you have toddlers and you are just trying to wear them out before a nap. Noting exciting or new to see here. Lots of ducks. We did the train ride and that was a snooze fest, don't waste your money. It doesn't take you by anything. You circle around a bit grassy area and... More

We went to the zoo when it was 90 plus degrees..no breeze which is not the zoos fault but I felt sorry for the animals that were right out in the heat and humidity.. The goats couldn't find a shady spot to go and cool off.I almost cried for them....will go back when it cools off and I can enjoy... More

This zoo is okay. Smaller than I like, but considering location it is a pretty good size. Animals aren't usually moving around a whole lot.

Very nice zoo! The grounds are beautiful, friendly staff, & a nice variety of animals. A lot of indoor spaces & shelters to escape the elements.

Having grown up in Sioux Falls, I can't begin to tell you how many times I've been to the zoo. Over the years, they've really made some incredible transformations to make it as beautiful as it is today. Now that my husband and I have a toddler and another on the way, we come here often enough that we ended... More

Beautiful place to go here in SF. I just wish that once you get inside the Zoo, they would not have all these extra venues wanting more money! Such as camel rides, merry-go- rounds, etc.... Thanks

I love the Great Plains Zoo! It's small enough to enjoy and big enough to have a lots of fun. There are some many great animals that I normally don't get to see, like tigers.(if you want to see more you will have to go visit). This place is great for the kids. Take your family on adventure at the... More

Was a great day out wirh a 4 and 2 yo. We did all it had to offer, rides and the train tour. Bought souvenirs and all that. For the four of us it was about $100 and that also included lunch.
