The South family established Strawbale Winery in 2006. constructed of straw bales, the buildings are insulated for a prairie-style wine cellar, and an atmosphere of country farm living. Treat your self to relaxation and fun. Tucked in a farm setting between a 100-year-old red barn and established shelter belt, the straw buildings, vineyard and animals may remind you of simpler times.

For the past two summers while visiting family in Sioux Falls, we visit Stawbale Winery on a Thursday. They have live music and local food vendors. There is plenty of room outside to sit around with friends. This is a fun and casual wiinery, so don't bring any wine snob attitudes. Look forward to another visit next year.

Driving to the Strawbale I wasn't sure what to expect, kind of out in the country on a dirt road but was so glad I took a chance. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. I was that person waiting for them to unlock the doors to do my tasting. The wine was delicious and unique. The Bog Burner was... More

It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we took a day trip to the winery. Having limited knowledge of wine, the different types and taste the staff at Strawbale were amazing. An amazing staff, beautiful property and so friendly, we felt welcome from the time we stepped on the property. Highly recommended we have returned on several occasions

than to sit in the sun on November 5 and enjoy a wine slushie. The chickens, the guinea hens, and the cats just made it perfect, but the other customers and the staff made it even more perfect. A beautiful site, a wonderful time. And love the wines we tasted!

Great visit to a fun local spot full of SD flavor. Great welcoming staff and casual down home atmosphere. Love the chickens walking around. Get a glass and roam the grounds--it is like being at Grandma's with wine.

This is a decent stop if you are driving around the Sioux Falls area. One of the better wineries in this part of the state, but wine is not that memorable, it is more of a novelty to say that you had wine from South Dakota. They have a drink that is made from peppers which is interesting to try... More

We have been here numerous time...great wine and relaxing music. They have a wide variety of wines to sample and purchase. Live music on Sunday afternoons and Thursday nights. I would recommend you visit when you are in the area!

A pastoral pasture. Quiet and splendidly appointed. Great hosts and staff members. Beautiful setting for that special occasion or simply a quiet evening in the country.
