Nice exhibit in a pretty area of town with the waterfront park. It is close enough to walk to the president statues and it’s close to drive to the dinosaur park. All things we wanted to see while passing through and they were all there together.

I’m not. A history buff but since we were in rapid for a few days I wanted to see the exhibit. We were the only ones there and it could have been missed as it’s in an unassuming location but it is really worth seeing in my opinion. And it’s free.

...of my youth and Army time in Germany. Very informative information panels reminded me of how the world was when I was younger. I had arrived in Germany about a year after the wall fell and was in a unit that was located near the Fulda Gap: the expected Soviet invasion route. The Wall coming down was a happy time for Germany and most of the world, but for American Army soldiers it was still bit of a tense era, especially with the Gulf War on the horizon. My time in Germany and the Wall coming down was sort of a personal "end of an era" as well. My dad passed while I was there, and I came back to the States very much never wanting to return. I received a hardship discharge from the military and wouldn't go back to active duty until 9/11. I liked being at this display very much. Being there brought back intense memories for me.

We didn't know this exhibit was here. Came across it while walking in the park. Nicely done, well labeled.

Surprised to find this in Rapid City. It is the largest Berlin Wall exhibit in the US. Very informative exhibit.

This is a small exhibit that sits outside in a beautiful park close to downtown Rapid City. It is an absolute reminder of why our freedoms and a constitutional republic must live on in America.

This was on my to-do list because I had visited East Berlin in 1980 while studying abroad. I had brought my photos to compare. While it may seem like it isn’t for everyone, it should be! Reminder of a divided Germany - a physical and ideological structure that stood way too long. Visit, and think about what it meant and means today.

I can't imagine the cost and effort it took to get these things moved here. What an incredible piece of history. Well done.

I stopped here once when I was younger and wanted to stop this time also to show my husband and kids. I will say, sometimes it’s hard for the kids to embrace learning the history, but the park that this exhibit is at is very nice and open too! It’s a nice piece of history and I suggest adding it as a quick stop on your trip!

Wow, I’m still not exactly sure why this is here but it makes for a nice short trip and is well presented with a great summary of the history surrounding the Berlin Wall.
