Downtown Rapid City itself doesn't have a lot to see to make it interesting. Free two hour parking, statues of various Presidents, a visit to the St Joe Antique Mall & the Pawnseum followed by lunch at the Firehouse Brewing Co. and that was about it. Rapid was best used as a base for me to do easy day trips... More

We really LIKE Downtown Rapid City! Kid friendly (grandkids) good and interesting shopping and window shopping, nice art galleries and local flare. Good eating establishments and generous parking areas. Always feels like there is a lot going on in this surprisingly eclectic town. You could easily spend a few days here with the whole family. Enjoyed our time very much.

The downtown Rapid City offers great fun. The best were the sculptures of the presidents and the Art Alley. Don't miss those two.

While there to see the many surrounding sites, we originally were located on the outskirts of the city. We switched to downtown after two nights for the next two. What a pleasant surprise. Downtown is quant, Small, but loaded with great restaurants and shops. Easy walking, parking, getting around by car or on foot.

I enjoy walking downtown Rapid City! Antique stores, a Celtic Shop, the Firehouse for good food/ drink, the statues of the US Presidents, Prairie Edge and more.

We stayed at the Rushmore Hotel which was within walking distance of restaurants and shops. At each sidewalk corner was statues of different statues of U.S. Presidents. It was fun trying to guess who the presidents were before you got close enough to read who they were.

Seemingly every street corner in downtown Rapid City has a bronze statue of a president. A few other statues are intermixed. And Main St Square is nicely done as well. Lots of shops to visit and restaurants galore. IT is all downtown in Rapid City.

It was interesting walking around the downtown area. There seemed to be a decent number of shops and eateries, but not many people. There is a series of life-size bronze statues of the American presidents (Barack Obama coming soon) scattered through the downtown area which were well-done.
