Several awesome shops, restaurants and bars. One of the best places is Paddys below the Alex Johnson Hotel. You meet so many people from around the world. It is always an adventure. Additionally, Main Street square has several events and is a great place to go anytime.

To begin, we visited in the off season, so things might be different in the summer. However, the downtown area was fabulous. There were few crowds and always a free place to park. The restaurant choices were eclectic and exciting, and having tried at least five of them, were also delicious. Though there are few green spaces in the downtown... More

Rapid City has one of the most beautiful downtown's I've been to. Every block has nice, clean, unique stores. Cool alley full of fun/colorful graffiti. Whenever we're in Rapid we make a point to go downtown and visit the candy stores, clothing boutiques and other unique stores.

So this is what happens to a president once they are out of office... lol.. This is just a great time finding all the statues and guessing to see how many you can name. Or cheat and get a map of where they are all placed... Maybe get a map but don't look at it till your done... lol.. anyway... More

If you bypass Downtown Rapid City, you're missing out. Walk the streets to visit our most distinguished Presidents as they greet you on the corners. Pictures are most welcome! Shopping and amazing food are abundant. No matter the season, always an activity to enjoy. Do it!

It is such a delight to go downtown. The city square has ice skating in the winter, and summer concerts and loads of different events going on. And the presidential statues are wonderful, esp being at the base of Mt Rushmore. Shops are mostly privately owned, so very unique.

Typical downtown city, but ask the statues were very cool. Lots of restaurants and shops. Available parking and easy walking.

We stopped in Rapid City because of its proximity to Mount Rushmore. We went in town to get a bite to eat and noticed the bronze statues of the presidents. We soon got our hands on a printed guide with a ton of interesting info that led us on a self-guided tour. What a surprise! It gave us greater insight... More

Growing up here was nice but didn't go downtown often. It is quite nice and typically can find free parking pretty easy. Ice skating during the winter. Lots of nice little shops but tend to be a little over priced IMO. Had a history project to take pictures with the president statues which tourists seem to like.
