A diverse informative collection of museums providing a large variety of exhibits and interactive activities. Family friendly with something for everyone: geology, pioneer history, anthropology, paleontology. native american history, and local history. Nice gift shop and rotating exhibit space off the lobby.

My wife and I make it a point to visit history museums in cities we visit on our road trips. History museums offer summations of history that speak to the uniqueness of these cities. The Journey Museum was one of the most creative museums we’ve encountered. Most start with descriptions of early settlers or Native Americans who were first occupants... More

The journey Museum is a great place to visit with or without children. There are interactive displays throughout the museum to keep little hands active. It is a nice blend for adults and children. Though it centers around the Black Hills/Rapid City area, it includes dinosaurs, Native Indians, pioneers, space, and major events affecting Rapid City like the flood of... More

Tis place is a must to see if in Rapid City. We were greeted by a really nice man. Ian was a wealth of information and made sure that we saw everything to get the most out of our visit. The displays and items in the case were wonderful. One of the best museums we have seen for a long... More

We left it a bit late in the day to visit the Journey Museum and we had trouble finding it as we were on foot from the centre of town. It was very interesting but an hour wasn't long enough so had to do a whistle stop tour of the place. We found the exhibits and displays very interesting. Well... More

We came from California to spend a week exploring South Dakota (western area) and began our journey here. Very interesting to get an over view of the area, both geographical and historical.

My four year old absolutely loved this place. We could not sit through the movie but the rest was definitely worth the visit. We had to drag her out because the place was closing.

Nice museum. Stopped in on a week day. Parking available for big RVs. Content was very good. Saw one movie. A similar movie we saw in Custer State Park was better. There were quite a few toddlers, the museum has a nice hands on area for little ones.

Truly a wonderful place to spend a few hours or an entire day. It also has many interactive displays for kids with things to touch at a child's level. The films shown in the theater are very interesting as well.
