    Wonderful Watiki
Ahh yes Watiki Waterpark, the feeling of being on the beach in the middle of South Dakota. What a place to be with the salty pools of crystal clear water, and the hot sand in between my toes. Could life get any better? If only I could stay here forever, but alas all good Watikis must come to an end. Why must I leave such a good place? Great customer service….. the pools remind me of the fine oceans back in my home country of the Central African Rebuplic. What a great place
Thank you for your wonderful review! We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience with us, and we hope you are able to return to South Dakota again soon!

    Super Fun
Ok, so, Watiki Waterpark is extremely fun for the family, But, here a few things you should probably know before staying. The number one thing is simply just the prices. The rooms are very expensive, and then the wrist bands to go in are pricy too Number two is the scams. We payed to stay two nights and two days, and two days of waterpark fun was included in that. So we bought our bands, and payed the first night. The next day, we were leaving, and wanted to go down a few slides since our bands should still work for what we payed for, But no. Now you have to buy another band for each person every day, AND just to go in. The waterpark no longer provides towels. I will say though, the arcade is pretty cool. My friend won an Amazon Fire tablet for 7 dollars ( A dollar per try) The claw machines weren’t rigged, and it’s pretty easy to win other prizes too, I would recommend going, please be aware of these prices, thanks and so have so much fun!!

Hit and Miss at Watiki Indoor Waterpark: A Mixed Experience of Thrills and Concerns
Our two-week stay at Residence Inn was initially met with excitement, particularly for my son, as it boasted an adjoining waterpark—Watiki Indoor Waterpark. However, the experience had its highs and lows. Despite the hassle of signing waivers and paying fees, the main water slide, resembling a toilet bowl, was disappointingly closed each time we attempted to enjoy it. The hot tub fell short of expectations, lacking appeal, but the park side redeemed our experience. My son especially loved the slide that passed through the bar, offering a unique perspective. Unfortunately, the life guards seemed disinterested in their duties. When I fell and hurt my knee, the lack of any response from them raised concerns about overall safety. With a daily price of $16 per person, the cost seemed reasonable for the facilities offered. On a positive note, the option to order food on-site was a definite plus. Despite the drawbacks, we would consider returning, hoping for a more seamless experience next time, especially with the anticipation of the main water slide being operational.

    Family fun!
Didn’t get her name, but our girl today (3/7) was very helpful in resolving a technical issue we had the other day when we booked (that was supposed to be for today). She was friendly and didn’t make us feel like idiots; her customer service was fantastic. The pool was fun, the slides are great for a couple hours, lines go quickly, water a bit chilly but not uncomfortable. Lots of tables for people to hangout. Lockers for a fee. Towels for purchase if you forget yours.

My wife, 3 boys, and I recently enjoyed an afternoon at Watiki Water Park. We were greatly impressed! I never expected a place like this to be in a place like Rapid City!

We stayed at Residence Inn and all hotel guests do get discounted admission to the water park and free use of the hot tub anytime within hours.

My boys had an absolute blast. They loved the 3 big water slides the best and even my 3 year old liked those better than the kiddie ones in the kiddie area. They especially liked the water basketball court.

Adults can really enjoy this place with the large water slides and also adult beverages are allowed in the hot tub and the main seating area. So you don't have to go far to enjoy the slides and also food and drinks.

I didn't interact with any staff personally. But it seemed everyone is well trained and very much enjoy what they do.

If you're in Rapid City or the Black Hills and have kids, I highly recommend Watiki. We had a great time and really nothing to give any demerits about!

Watiki used to be a fun place but it has gone downhill fast! It has become very apparent that the current management is not qualified to do their job. The staff has not been properly trained. The lack of motivation is more that abundant. The water conditions are horrible. The water is not properly treated and very cloudy. The Pool area that is supposed to be warm is now cold. Free towel use is no longer available. You must either bring your own, bring one from the hotel if staying, or purchase a small paper thin cloth from Watiki for $8. The price to get in is not worth it when you can't find a table to sit at, no towels, no floats. There was a giant pile of inner tubes that were deflated, but very very few tubes for use. People were waiting for a very long time to get a tube. Watiki is very very small and has 5 hotels connected to it, so it gets extremely crowded. For the price of admission I would expect more cleaning, better trained staff, and the proper equipment for guests to enjoy their visit. The robot of management will respond to this review with the exact same response as every other negative review. Read through them. It's laughable but sad. Management shows a lack of concern. Watiki management doesn't care if you enjoy your visit or if you've had a horrible time. As long as they get their admission price paid they are happy. Save yourself the disappointment and expense and do not go to Watiki. You'll thank me later.

We stayed at the La Quinta and when we booked, waterpark prices were advertised at $12 per person if you are staying at the hotel. We were informed that this was out-of-season prices and it would be $20 per person. We decided to go anyway. It was so crowded that you could hardly move around. The kids area had almost no lifeguard supervisor. The lazy river wasn't strong enough to move you so you had to push yourself around if you wanted to do it. There isn't even a good pool area. It's overpriced and no fun. We would have rather had a regular pool.

While this place is family friendly, you should know the almost $20 per person ticket includes a one story climbing structure w/water features and a few slides, 2 larger water slides, a toilet bowl slide, a lazy river, an overhead net to hang from, balancing 'lilly pads' kids try to jump on (injury central) and water basketball - that's it. There is absolutely no swimming area. My young teens were bored after about 45 minutes. There's also a "hot tub" that's not very warm, I'm sure because it has to be kid-friendly. It was uncomfortably packed and kids were jumping in from the side; not relaxing at all. The staff didn't seem to care/monitor. Towels were not readily available. Visit a local public pool instead. You also can't bring in your own food, drinks and the attached good establishment (Sliders) is mediocre at best.

Great experience for our family, however I would caution, as others have, to avoid New Year's Eve. It was so crowded. The staff was doing their best but honestly, could not keep up with the amount of people attending that specific event. And if some of the people attending had some form of common sense and decency, it wouldn't have been bad either, but a lot were just disrespectful and did not care about anyone else's experience in relation to their fun. - but again, those people had nothing to do with the operation of Watiki! We spent several days there prior to our NYE experience and it was absolutely great! Fun time for the kids and adults! So much to do and take part in between the pool, the arcades, the restaurants and all the connected hotels. The Rapid City area is so family friendly, Watiki just adds more to the area! Definitely a fun experience and much cheaper than other hotel / waterpark combos! Even though you are paying for the pool separately than the room, the hotel rates more than compensate for the additional pool charges. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

This was our 2nd visit to Watiki and I must say this trip was very disappointing compared to our 1st. Our first visit the staff did a great job in regulating the use and sharing of the tubes for the slides. This trip people just kept going time after time after time instead of passing it on to someone waiting in line for a tube. There were also people that would take tunes back to their table and hoard them instead of having someone else use it while they took a break. It was heartbreaking for my 6 year old to wait for over 10 mins and no one pass a tube along for us to use. Another big disappointment was the lack of towels and laundry service. We we there for almost 5 hours and the bins of clean towels wer never replenished. We kept checking back for some, but were never restocked. There were plenty in the dirty bins that could've been washed in the amount of time we were there. The saving grace was the kids still had a great time playing together on the pirate ship. I can honestly say I don't think it was worth the $100 spent for the 4 of us for the experience we got.

We were here on labor day weekend. Gross and dirty. So many people!! Not enough tables or towels. Despite that the kids loved the slides. But there is no swimming pool for adults to be in and the hot tub was so crowded I was afraid to get in. I saw a total of 3 lifeguards. I felt like there should be more. Don't waste your time or money.

Not enough floats. Lifeguards we’re not regulating lines or floats. People cutting lines to get floats. People not giving up the floats for the next in line . Was also an example of how crappy people are these days. Teenagers cutting the lines, adults being jerks. Was a great example of how American privilege is making places crappy and makes me miss the days of when people were kind and waited their turn. People setting bad examples for kids. You would think lifeguards wouldn’t have to to regulate floats and people waiting in line but middle America is as bad as city America now. The employees looked miserable and didn’t care so they are either not paid well or are treated like crap. Staff was no help.

Our grandson loved this place! Staying at the hotel onsite made it so easy. We purchased the VIP package so that a table was already set up for us which came with towels and coupons to the arcade and the restaurant. We ate pizza and breadsticks and they were wonderful. There are three main big slides and a lazy river. There is smaller slides and play area for the smaller kids. There is a Starbucks right inside next to the restaurant and access from at least three different hotels. You can buy your daily wrist bands from your hotel. We found that it was a nice break in the afternoon after busy days of site seeing. Enjoy!!

My extended family gave WaTiki a whirl over the July 4th weekend and we were not disappointed. The kids ranged from 4 up to 17 and all had a great time and ran themselves down to exhaustion! The "kid" area was really unique and my 2 boys had a great time playing games and exploring all the stuff. It wasn't overly crowded but you couldn't help but think about Covid in the back of your mind. There was no social distancing and no one wore a mask. We tried to pick times when it would be less crowded and were mostly successful. The park was shutdown one afternoon on account of lightning but that is good they did that and the boys had a great time in the arcade. The lifeguards can be a little overzealous at times but at least they are doing their jobs and it is a thanks one at that. Will try to be back once all this craziness subsides.
